  1. I have officially arrived on Head-Case! My own smiley: Thanks Dan.
  2. You're just jealous of my new signature!
  3. Slow King, you have used the best smiley of all time! I have not seen the Prisoner bubble smiley and must use it always from now on. Thank you from one of your grateful servants.
  4. Here is the Impulse! list being done by Analog Productions, and I am pretty happy for the most part. Bummed there is no Archie Shepp, Chico Hamilton, or a couple others, but really psyched about a lot of these titles. Also happy to have confirmation they will do copies of the original gatefold covers. Noice! 5. This is getting confusing, and I am not going to comment on price in absolute terms or in comparison to other builders/makers/etc., but Cardas makes different cables being used for headphones. The traditional Cardas cable was the sky blue one that I think is now sheathed in a gray cover instead. I never thought that cable was the best match for the HD650 but I do think it is pretty good with the HD600. I don't know exactly why or remember the differences so much, but there you are. The newer Cardas cable being used by Headroom and maybe others is the Cardas Fat Pipe cable, which is physically thinner than the old sky blue one. I think I first heard these at the New York national HF meet so they aren't that new but HR is now offers recabling formally on the site. Anyway, they say that the Fat Pipe uses Cardas's Constant-Q, Golden Ratio configuration. According to Tyll's marketing folks: "he Fat Pipe geometry is a four-conductor with braided shield cable featuring Golden Ratio, oxygen-free, pure copper Litz wire with pure teflon dialectrics just like the big boys. The connectors are terminated by hand using Cardas Ultra Pure Quadeutectic solder. The connectors are mechanically inert, isolated from electrical noise and completely resonance-free, producing a very quiet, musical and superbly accurate cable capable of beautiful sound reproduction." I liked the impact of this cable on K701s, although I frankly cannot recall hearing the HD650s with it. Here is Wes Phillips' on-line article about the Fat Pipe recable. He liked it on both HD650s and K701s.
  6. According to Todd and Skylab and others, this douchey kid, who is also a member here, has scammed several people. He also went by the name Nick20. The details are here but he has Todd's TTVJ/Millett portable and other amps and never sent product on several sales. I guess the other option is that he is dead or in the hospital according to something Miguel Arroyo said, but it seems more likely he is just a prick.

Agreed, and here are some new avatar options for our king:
  9. First of all, I am pissed off that one of you two guys didn't get mated with -=Her=- because that would have been fun times. Second of all, are you exchanging a Beta22 for US Dollars, or are you going to come up with something in addition to your commercial exchange?
  10. I like Arcam gear and own several pieces, including the FMJ DV29 (cd/dvd/dvd-a). The CD23 is a very solid player for Redbook only (HDCD supported) and it incorporates the dCS Ring DAC that many people love. It is a great sounding, musical, and accurate player, but it will not be a super-detailed clinical kind of sound. The 2900 would not fall into the super detail camp either. The CD23 had a couple of versions, one had a new transport added and the more substantial one was called the CD23T, for text support on the readout and better CD-R handling. If you go later in the FMJ CD line, the CD33 and CD36 do not have the Ring DAC but are also well regarded. I think the value is still in the CD23 assuming it is in good shape and functions well. I have been using my DV29 for 4+ years without any problems at all.
  11. The first page says max $40-50 but the normal expectation is one CD. You and your partner can decide how you want to handle it.
  12. Done. My people will talk to your people.
  13. Well, Vicki is damn lucky to get this beauty, although as she puts it, this way just cuts out the middle man (aka Mike)!
  14. Congrats Vicki! That is a great looking B22 and who needs speakers anyway! Enjoy it!
  15. I am in too. I will ship wherever.
  16. Happy birthday my dear friend. Wish I had seen this earlier and called you. Hope it has been a great one for you as you deserve only the best! Cheers.
  17. Wait, CJ, grawk makes a good point. Have you tried a CDP or something as a source? The headphone output of a laptop isn't a real test of the amp and may be a cause of problems.
