July 3, 201411 yr New Trek @ 10.25 pounds. But, ouch. $15K!!! http://velonews.competitor.com/2014/07/news/gallery-treks-new-10-25-pound-emonde_333950
July 3, 201411 yr It's not the most expensive bike on the market, just the least practical. But it gets them lots of press.
July 3, 201411 yr Specialized came out with a 20k one with McLaren a day or two ago. Also, the new line from Trek goes all they way down to a sub-2k Tiagra equipped version that's over 19 pounds, but I think it's still carbon. The Tune wheels are sick, though. **BRENT**
July 4, 201411 yr Wow, didn't realize the lowest models were still carbon. Nice touch that they still call it an ultralight frame: "Ultralight 300 Series OCLV Carbon, ride-tuned performance tube optimization, E2, BB86.5, 3S chain keeper, DuoTrap compatible"
July 4, 201411 yr Watch out, the SL models are all H2 fit, you have to drop bank to get an SLR with an H1 fit. The SLR 6 through SLR 9 have H1 or H2 fit options (as does the standalone SLR frame at 690gr and 4200$), but the SLR 10 (that we all know and love) is H1 only. I'd love to try an H1 Domane, but not sure about this. Does anyone know if this will be taking over the Madone line? **BRENT**

Does anyone know if this will be taking over the Madone line? **BRENT** I'm not looking to buy one, but thanks for the heads up I don't think the Domane has different fit options, but when I tried the stock Domane it was far too relaxed for me. It's one of the reasons why I ended up going with the Classics Edition... My guess is that it'll eventually take over the Madone line, there just too much overlap between the new lineup and the Madone lineup.
July 4, 201411 yr Watching the GCN video, the guy was saying the Madone was their aero road offering, and this is more the "strong + light" one. I dig your Classics edition Domane, though. I figure the H1 fit is similar to yours, no? **BRENT**
July 4, 201411 yr The Classics Edition is significantly more aggressive than the standard Domane fit. IIRC, the head tube on the Classics' is almost shorter than the H1 Madone. I'm not sure the Madone is that much more aero than the new one, the primary difference is the rear brake location. Edited July 4, 201411 yr by Nebby
July 4, 201411 yr http://www.bikeradar.com/us/road/gear/category/bikes/road/product/review-trek-domane-classics-edition-48057/ Shorter?
July 4, 201411 yr FYI - in case anyone else's Garmin 500 seems to be getting slow to lock onto GPS - https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId=%7B84774820-e4ef-11de-d785-000000000000%7D I'm not sure if it's made a difference on mine yet but at least there's a process to have it update to the most recent satellite data (allegedly).
July 4, 201411 yr http://www.bikeradar.com/us/road/gear/category/bikes/road/product/review-trek-domane-classics-edition-48057/ Shorter? Ah, so it's shorter! Classics Ed has a 14.3 head tube while the H1 Madone has a 16. Edited July 4, 201411 yr by Nebby
July 4, 201411 yr Got in a beautiful ride this morning. A nice 20 miles. Caught up to a guy who was cooling down after taking my KOM on the loop of the lake. I will have to work at it to get that back again.
July 4, 201411 yr Did about 10 miles on the salsa in 32/17 to see if I could deal with a single speed niner. It worked reasonably well, and I'm gonna try it this way on a trail next.
July 5, 201411 yr New Trek @ 10.25 pounds. But, ouch. $15K!!! http://velonews.competitor.com/2014/07/news/gallery-treks-new-10-25-pound-emonde_333950 what's the point though? it's below the legal weight
July 5, 201411 yr if it's for racing there will be bolt holes in the bottom to add weights. but people that buy 15k bikes aren't racing them.
July 5, 201411 yr Give consumers the impression that they can buy a better bike then pro riders can have? FWIW the follow up on Velonews has an interesting spin on the whole weight thing. http://velonews.competitor.com/2014/07/bikes-and-tech/first-ride-treks-featherweight-emonda_334248
July 5, 201411 yr Anyone interested in Mavic Cosmic Carbone 80? My pair have less than 300 miles on them. I got these to try tubulars, but I am going to get a pair of clincher wheels mostly targeting climbing. They are Shimano/SRAM 10 and 11-speed compatible. I have the spacer for 10-speed setting. They would come with anything tubular I have around: -They have a pair of ZIpp tangente glued on, less than 300 miles. -One pair of brand new ZIpp tangente tubular tires -One pair of new Mavic tubular tires -Zipp valve extenders (one pair installed and a spare pair if I can find it) -Caffelatex sealant foam: One medium container, and syringe. And Road side assistance version -Any mastik glue I have around. I believe I have one or two 10g tubes around, but need to check. ( I would estimate the extras are around $175-200 value) I have the original box, I can deliver within reason or meet half-way. [EDIT] Head-case cycling low price(!) still available: I figure anyone who may have been interested here has already seen this. I have placed this for sale elseware as well. Anyone interested here, just let me know. Cheers Edited July 6, 201411 yr by CD44hi
July 5, 201411 yr ^ That's a deal I would say. I can post to my club if you don't have any takers. Did 20 miles this afternoon. I'm planning 40 miles or so tomorrow morning: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2935655 Should be fun.
July 5, 201411 yr Looks like a fun ride and the weather should be good! Someday I'd like to do that lakehouse loop just to see how much I've improved I did a 50miler today and might do a metric tomorrow, depending on how my legs feel.
July 5, 201411 yr Turn up tomorrow I would, but I promised a friend I'd ride a metric with them if my legs were up for it. Some other day!
July 6, 201411 yr ^ That's a deal I would say. I can post to my club if you don't have any takers. Thanks Chris, sent you a PM
