April 8, 201313 yr I did a search and saw a few of you have these. Vicki, the model you picked up from QVC may be the way to go but I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions. There are so many models and variables. I would like to keep it around $400 or a bit more. It looks like the CIA on Amazon Prime is close or the same to the QVC model, so leaning that way. Gail is going through withdrawals since our blender died over the weekend.
April 8, 201313 yr I got the CIA model and have no complaints. I used a BB&B 20% off coupon so it seemed to be a pretty good deal to me.
April 10, 201313 yr I've got the vita mix turbo blend, I bought used and it has been a workhorse over the past 4 years
April 10, 201313 yr We bought a reconditioned 5200 model directly from Vitamix - it saved us some money and reconditioned ones still come with same warranty (7 years in this case). We've had ours for ~2.5 years with no issues and we use ours frequently. Edited April 10, 201313 yr by Salt Peanuts
April 14, 201313 yr Author Thanks. We ended up buying a 6300 (same as the 500 and the only difference with the 5200 are that it has 3 presets). I think making soup maybe the coolest thing so far. Also made some hummus. Tonight it's ice cream after dinner.
April 14, 201313 yr Soup was a big surprise for me. Does a really nice job. Love mine for smoothies once I found the right setting. It is too fast to use it as I did my previous blender.
February 24, 201511 yr If you are going to make sorbet, you definitely need to get the Pacojet 2. I am glad I have the variable speed on my vitamix, not that I necessarily need the adjustability but I like being able to ramp up to higher speeds, rather than going straight there.
February 24, 201511 yr The variable speed is nice because it means you don't have stuff shooting out the top. I'm not sure what the difference in speeds are in the 2-speed but I like the variable to be able to throw it on low to break up big chunks and then slowly bring it up to top speed. A refurb variable looks to be about $330 fyi.

Gail is going through withdrawals since our blender died over the weekend. My favorite HC language highlighted. I have the 750 and while it was pretty expensive and more than I'll ever need, there is a definite pleasure and satisfaction in knowing that I can pulverize whatever the fuck I want whenever the fuck I want. Nice for sauces, too.
February 25, 201511 yr There is a definite pleasure and satisfaction in knowing that I can pulverize whatever the fuck I want whenever the fuck I want. Paging Dr. Wood! Never even heard of a Vitamix before today and now I suddenly need one quite badly.
