Cardas now has unterminated plugs for Sennheiser headphone cables!

Featured Replies

I just got the word that Cardas is going to start selling the unterminated plugs for the Sennheisers if you want to build your own cables.

Contact me if you want to get some.

Here's a picture.

The price will be $32 a pair + $3 shipping in the US

What's it worth to ya?

(soldering is FUN!)

no idea.

$60?

I just dont want another $200 chord. I'm rocking the stock chord right now...much better flexibility than my old Cardas. And the Cardas was too short.

Plus I'd rather have something softer than the techflex type conduit of other designs.

$60?

What length?

I'm thinking probably not once you pay for the parts & shipping from the supplier, to me, then to you from me plus a buck or two for my trouble.

It's not too hard to do, don't you want to give it a try yourself?

The satisfaction of knowing you're making exactly what you want is unbeatable. It's a great feeling making whatever cables you need when you need something too.

Just wondering if these Senn plugs come with covers, or if you just epoxy them up and heatshrink over it.

Me + soldering = fail ;D

I'm not really sure how much star quad HD650 wires would fetch; $60 was just a wild ass guess.

How much is typical for those? If its much more, I figure just get A Pure Sound, since everyone seems to be raving about them. I just figured there more economical wires out there. But I freely admit, I have no idea what price point they would be.

hopefully cardas will make unterminated plugs for OII headphone so that ken at ALO can put his jena pink cable on my OII for $400. thanks.

$400 is not enough. Ken charges extra for one off cables, so expect it to be at least $600.

posty was making a joke, and you ruined it!!! >:(

I wasn't serious either. I've never spoken to Ken before, so I don't know how much he charges.

the SR-007 has the cable soldered directly to the stators via very thin pieces of silver foil. The "connector" looking thing is simply for strain relief.

He could make a cable for the SR-Omega though... ;)

Down to 2 pair now :-)

I was hoping more along the lines of the Stax SR001-MK2 portable system

I mean afterall, his forte seems to be in cables for portable rigs right?

Yeah the SR-001/3 cable is much too small in diameter. A nice 18AWG Jena Labs is a necessary upgrade, it's so cool looking and easy to manage.

Well... I suppose those could be useful if there is ever a shortage of HD650 cables again. For over double the price of a stock cable I am willing to spend the few seconds to get the plugs off myself.

Yeah but then you'll have an extra solder connection and an ugly bump on your cable where the joint is. :P

A few seconds with the dremel and problem solved. No splicing needed.

...now there will be lots of DIY Senn cables on HeadFi ;D
