January 10, 200917 yr Author I love the tape used to spin the platter too. Mine looks like any old VHS tape. That one's very shiny. Glad you got everything together. It looks fantastic, very solid, manly turntable. Congrats!
January 10, 200917 yr Thanks! Ken, I suppose it's possible that I could eventually can upgrade the platter, then the plinth, then the motor and on and on but not for a while. Edited January 10, 200917 yr by tyrion
January 10, 200917 yr By the way, the beautiful maple (matches my speakers) sandbox was made by swt61. There was some minor damage during shipping so I don't have sand in it at the moment.
January 10, 200917 yr Real nice looking rig you got there, Mike! What's the silver unit next to BH? Thanks Haj. That's my Berendsen preamp. I am probably holding off on the Modwright and keeping this for now. I'll see how it mates with the McCormack DNA-.1 Rev A before thinking about changing.
January 10, 200917 yr Congrats Mike! And as long as you're not in for an all-nighter the beta should survive ok.
January 10, 200917 yr Congrats Mike! And as long as you're not in for an all-nighter the beta should survive ok. It really sounds nice. I'm listening to Ray Brown Soular Energy on vinyl and the bass is huge. I'll move to can's now. It's bee a couple of hours.
January 10, 200917 yr Move to the BH while you're at it. On a side note, I'm pleased as punch that the beta doesn't look out of place in a stack consisting of some pretty $$ gear.
January 10, 200917 yr Move to the BH while you're at it. The Beta deserves some headphone love unless you are saying I should give it a rest. The Beta fits right in.
January 10, 200917 yr The base is 26 lbs and the platter is 20 lbs. The battery and motor are about 27 lbs (all according to the fedex tracking updates).
January 10, 200917 yr Sweet looking rig Mike. It truly deserves a bigger room though with a jazz painting or poster in the back... kind of like Voltron's room.
January 10, 200917 yr Sweet looking rig Mike. It truly deserves a bigger room though with a jazz painting or poster in the back... kind of like Voltron's room. He's a rich city lawyer. I'm just a poor country lawyer. I have a guy coming buy to give me an estimate on building the garage room. I'm not sure I want to risk it with my brother in law and I doing it. In the meantime, I'm probably going to move the build in cabinets and desk in the office to another room and move my gear back in there.
January 10, 200917 yr Thanks! Ken, I suppose it's possible that I could eventually can upgrade the platter, then the plinth, then the motor and on and on but not for a while. Oops, forgot to say congrats on the table. It looks great and I hope to hear it someday, though that will probably be at jp#s' or Voltron's.
