March 25, 200917 yr Looks like the PS3 is finally getting Netflix streaming support. Netflix streaming coming to PS3 The netflix streaming on the xbox 360 has been great hopefully the ps3's will be similar.
November 10, 200916 yr I know I'm digging up a thread that hasn't been touched for almost 8 months, but it appears Netflix on PS3 is now actually happening. My Netflix streaming disc for PS3 is supposedly on its way so hopefully, I'll get to test it out in couple of days.
November 14, 200916 yr Initial impression is not so good. The interface is rather clunky and slow. The video quality has been decent to bad, though I think this is more a result of my inconsistent Comcrap service. Also, I kept having issues with TV shows that were supposed to be in 16:9 showing up in incorrect aspect ratio. The most annoying part is that you need to use the Netflix streaming disc every time you want to use Netflix on PS3, which I didn't realize - I thought it was just an initial install disc of sort.

Might want to check that all of your Display settings are selected. I had the same problem with other media until I enabled all settings.
November 16, 200916 yr Anyone know when/if Sony TVs will have Netflix, too? Well, I have the answer to my own question. Just updated my TV's software, and it works now!
January 6, 201016 yr Just figured that I'd bump this to say that I received my streaming DVD yesterday and tried it last night. Setup was simple and I seem to have sufficient bandwidth to maintain even the HD tagged titles (tested with Terminator 2). I hope that they continue to add content as the choices are somewhat limited and it'll be interesting to see if Comcast and other service providers start getting pissy about it if it gains in popularity. Added disclaimer: regular def content stuff looks pretty awful on my 42" TV, but the HD stuff was very watchable.
January 6, 201016 yr We got one of the Roku boxes for Christmas... it's been fun. So far the connection is good and I haven't had any picture issues. Overall I like it, but finding a movie in a long list is cumbersome and awkward. I hope that implement some sort of search feature so you don't have to just scroll through multiple titles.
January 6, 201016 yr my complaints are no subtitle options and 2 channel audio. Also, having to add titles to your "Instant Queue" rather than browsing from the device itself is sorta annoying. Other than that, I love using it with my Samsung BD-P2500.
January 6, 201016 yr The user interface is not that great on PS3 either. We find it it's easier and faster to just use one of our laptops to add whatever we want to watch on the Instant Queue. Edited January 6, 201016 yr by Salt Peanuts spelling
January 6, 201016 yr We find it it's easier and faster to just use one of our laptops to add whatever we want to watch on the Instant Queeu. yeah, that's the only option on the Samsung, so perhaps it's a blessing after all.
April 24, 201016 yr is there a way you can show all hi def netflix streaming titles? Do you have to also purchase the Blu Ray add-on to get access to these downloads?
April 24, 201016 yr The hi-def downloads are few and far between and seemingly random. The real problem is that the regular def stuff looks awful scaled up.
April 24, 201016 yr I think the rule of thumb is, the more recently it's been released, the more likely it is to be high-def. And no, you don't need to do anything special to get high-def.
April 25, 201016 yr I wish there was a way to look for HD streaming titles as well. In regards to video quality, after some issues initially (back in November of '09), we've been getting consistently good to excellent video quality regardless whether the streamed media is regular-def or high-def (except when we're having connection problem - which is a problem with Comcast and not Netflix). FWIW, my PS3's output is upscaled via Denon AVR4308 (though original aspect ratio is kept).
October 19, 201015 yr Did anyone check out the new disc-free Netflix? I didn't get around to it as I'd completely forgotten about it.
October 19, 201015 yr Im guessing they got hit hard by all the folks too lazy to get the disc. Hopefully it's back up tonight.
October 20, 201015 yr Just installed the disc free netflix on our Wii. Very nice. The interface is not as nice as on the AppleTV, but definitely more useable and you do not have to use those obsolete shiny things.
October 21, 201015 yr They launched Netflix in Canada without a disc for the PS3 (Wii still required one) and the service seems great, but unfortunately the selection is ball blistering awful... Although I did have some fun with the horror B-movie genre.
