December 15, 20169 yr Are the subsequent episodes better than the first one? I made it through the first but didn't feel a need to keep watching.
December 15, 20169 yr Somewhat of a Curate's Egg in general. Try the Italy Roadtrip in Ep. 3 for some excellent cinematography. Agree that the heavily scripted parts (ep 2, ep 4) could do with some adult supervision.
December 18, 20169 yr Finally something that looked less scripted (it still was of course) in Ep5 Hammond and May play battleships and cruisers using cars packed with explosive dropped from cranes, the idea being to hit the opponent's cars parked on a grid. By far the best sequence of the series to date.
December 23, 20169 yr Good. (If plebeian)Better (non-plebeian)Best.Because: Head-Case (and Christmas)

March 6, 20179 yr Top Gear is back with a new studio, and the old track.Chemistry has had a chance to mature, and the removal of the shouty ginger git is for the best. Automotive prOn with Mr Harris and the FXXK, and a suitably epic old school challenge that didn't feel over scripted / cringeworthy. Value add web/ "Extra" for the car nerds. A solid start ( mark II ). (Even if it is "only" 1080p)
March 15, 20179 yr The first two episodes have been good. Not great, but good. I think it's got some potential and the casting choices/decisions are far better this year than last. I wish they had a stronger third but maybe he'll grow into the roll through this season.
March 15, 20179 yr 4 seasons in 400 miles would be interesting to do. (The route checks out on google maps) Renting an AWD (super) car from Vegas? How hard could it be (at the right time of year)? Hard to get the cinematography wrong with that kind of scenery (and foreground interest)
March 16, 20179 yr I too thought that TG was much, much better without Chris Evans. Absolutely no question. It leaves the Grand Tour needing to up its game, dump things like Celebrity Brain Crash and be less puerile with their challenges. My only mild TG criticism is that the new crew are clearly reading script from a teleprompter in the studio. But I'm sure as they find their feet and get more comfortable with off-script banter that will be less of an issue.
March 16, 20179 yr I thought episode 2 was pretty darned good. Rory is great, but having Harris and LeBlanc be the two main hosts works pretty darned well, as they really do have good chemistry. I love the boys, but I didn't care for The Grand Tour, all that much.
March 20, 20179 yr I thought episode 3 was really good. The films were great, and the studio banter has improved quite a bit.
