August 14, 201214 yr comment_529818 Quick question: what type of silicone heat sink compound are y'all using with the alumina TO-220 insulators? Is the regular white gunk OK to use, or is there some special stuff to use instead at these voltages? Report
August 14, 201214 yr comment_529823 regular white goo for me. none of that stuff with the silver in it. Report
August 14, 201214 yr comment_529842 I grabbed the biggest squeeze'y tube of plain white silicone grease I could find. It's this one: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=NM2012 Seems to do the job. Just watch out because, kinda like yogurt and whey, the oil separates to the top of the package and will go everywhere if your not careful. You can literally track where I've worked on the t2 and bhse over the last year Report
August 14, 201214 yr comment_529863 I used AAVID Ultrastick for my T2. http://www.aavid.com/sites/default/files/products/interface/ultrastick.pdf#search='aavid%20ultrastick' Report

OK, so the regular white stuff is OK, no need to try to find some exotic high-voltage rated stuff compounded of finely divided unobtainium oxide. Report
August 23, 201214 yr comment_531381 if anyone is looking for 2SA1968 transistors, these visually appear to be authentic parts at a good price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-2SA1968LS-Original-New-Sanyo-PNP-Dynamic-Focus-Transistors-A1968LS-/110935720719?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19d448c30f#ht_3700wt_1398 Report
August 23, 201214 yr comment_531385 Do a search in this thread for "Dalbani". Buyer beware! If they honor their 14 day return policy, one could dust off the trusty transistor tester and check for Vbr. VCEO should test at 900V minimum if they are the real deal. If not, return them FAST! August 23, 201214 yr comment_531400 Here is the pic from the Dabani auction. They say it is a real photo of their existing inventory. Justin is right about the distinctive look of this TO-220 package. My BDent parts look exactly the same as this photo, number markings also. (click pic to enlarge) Report
August 23, 201214 yr comment_531401 Postage: US $33.95 (approx. AU $32.33) USPS Priority Mail Check the postage to Australia........ Yeah, that is USPS "International Priority Mail". Def not cheap for a small parcel ! Report
August 23, 201214 yr comment_531403 Shipping rates to Singapore is not cheap either. Works out to be US10.50 per piece if I buy 1 lot with the cheapest shipping. Of course, buying more will bring the rates and price per piece down. This also assumes they are real. Compared the pictures to the ones got from bdent at hand, as mentioned by Justin, they do look real. Edited August 23, 201214 yr by Victor Chew Report
August 23, 201214 yr comment_531405 i checked my earliest 2SA1968LS purchase from bdent (in 2006) i paid $3.90 a piece then. i'd guarantee the one in the photo is real. is that the stock you will actually receive is the question. Report
August 23, 201214 yr comment_531406 I can't even tell you how pissed i'm getting at all the fake parts. And i've been recently bit by $200 in fake parts myself. None of the distributors stand by them either. Dalbani seems to be the worst of the bunch, complete thiefs. Report
August 23, 201214 yr comment_531417 ^ This is a problem. The problem is for us, the postage..... Report
August 23, 201214 yr comment_531429 These pictures of the T2 are soo freaking impressive. These chassis are packed but it all smells perfection being so tight and neat. I really wish I had the skills / talent to do that kind of stuff, I can only hope to hear one someday ( Report
August 23, 201214 yr comment_531442 they could put the 5pcs in the small USPS Flat Rate Global Priority box, which i think is $16.95 Report
August 23, 201214 yr Author comment_531460 If these are the same Dalbani then I sent them 600 or so fake 1968's earlier this year. They were an utter pain to deal with and tried to make it all my fault for not testing the parts when I got them. Report

One wrong part will take many good parts with it. And its not the price of the available parts that I am too worried about, but sometimes its the costs of shipping and the rare parts being taken down as well.. Report
