September 24, 200916 yr comment_279276 So, I have 4 X Beta 22 Amp board kit + 2 X Sigma 22 Power Supply kit from Glass Jar Audio in a two HI-FI2000 slim line 2U case with aluminum top and base plate. My idea is to use 100mA quiescent current to keep the temperature a bit lower, but should I drill holes to those base plates? Would it actually help to keep those temperatures lower with those covers? Or should I just order more vented custom aluminum covers from Modushop? Cases: Top and base plate: Report
September 24, 200916 yr comment_279277 I know many will recommend you drill more holes in the base plates and/or the top plates. IMO if you can get two sets of vents on the top plate on either end to set some kind of convection air current going, I think that is all you will need in addition to the current base plate you have. Then again I have never built a B22 so more experienced folk in that area will undoubtedly comment. nice looking amp btw. Report
September 24, 200916 yr comment_279302 Great looking build! I agree that more ventilation would be a good thing. In the mean time buy a infrared thermometer and check the temps from time to time. Report
September 24, 200916 yr comment_279323 Nice looking cases. Not to pull this off topic too much (oh wait! this is HeadCase ) How do you order with aluminum top and bottom from Modushop? Do you just have to buy the case as is and add the top and bottom, or can you get them to substitute? Seems a waste of material to get 2 tops and bottoms. Report
September 24, 200916 yr Author comment_279463 Here you go FAIL! You order your slim line case + two slim line covers: Here you go with proper covers. How do you order with aluminum top and bottom from Modushop? Do you just have to buy the case as is and add the top and bottom, or can you get them to substitute? Seems a waste of material to get 2 tops and bottoms. I guess those metal versions of top and bottom are so cheap, plus they are quite light weight, that they just ship them anyway. Does anyone have any other opinion about the holes vs. custom covers? Report
September 24, 200916 yr comment_279466 Does anyone have any other opinion about the holes vs. custom covers? where will your heatsinks be within the case ? holes +/or grill vents above these would seem an obvious recomendation. p.s. the case fronts look good Report
September 25, 200916 yr Author comment_279608 I'll skip drilling those holes. Next up is Modushop customization. Has anyone ordered simple custom work done by Modushop? I'm thinking something as simple as this, since I don't trust that they could do any proper custom work (custom 3mm aluminum cover): What do you guys think about that cover? Report
September 25, 200916 yr comment_279611 That panel is in line with what I meant in my post and is very much like my top plate design here. Report

September 25, 200916 yr comment_279634 Plan on paying at least $1/vent hole at least from places like FPE and Cam-Expert. They are not cheap to do. Report
September 25, 200916 yr comment_279667 Disregarding Nate's comment, I very much like the last one. Taking Nate's comment to heart, I like the middle one. Me, I'm an all or nothing guy usually, so I'd spend the money for the one I found most pleasing. Very nice looking build thus far! Report

I've spent my share abroad in hospitals, but if you have a mission, they just can't keep you in. I don't give a shit, since I'm the only one with a proper disease. September 26, 200916 yr comment_279939 I feel like someone might have accidentally struck a chord with you or I missed something, maybe something lost in translation (certain that everyone is friendly joking, not anything against you yourself). Your panels all look nice to me. Are you alright? *serious* Report

I guess I have a weird humor when I'm pissed drunk and it's 5AM I think I'm ordering that first panel, thanks everyone. Now I'll go and enjoy my hangover. Report
