February 8, 200917 yr OK. Good clarification. I didn't think the Omega 2 had bigger soundstage than SR-X Pro. The latter to me seemed very decent compared to SR-003, for example... but I am too used to IEMs to assess about full size headphones soundstage. Maybe one day I'll be ready for an O2 rig.
February 8, 200917 yr OK. Good clarification, since I usually hear the Omega 2 has small soundstage. Then the SR-X Pro does worse. SR-X soundstage is horrible when it comes to size, walnut size comes to mind , it is accurate when it comes to positioning but SR-X have no layering what so ever.
February 8, 200917 yr Hahaha, still better than SR-003, which is decent for a portable headphone listener.
February 9, 200917 yr Hahaha, still better than SR-003, which is decent for a portable headphone listener. Don't know about that. My SR-001 had much better soundstage than SR-X Mk2 normal bias. Maybe SR-X Pro is better in this respect.
February 9, 200917 yr Yes, it was definitely better when I heard both out of a SRM-1 MkII Pro last June/July.
February 9, 200917 yr Walnut soundstage is what I'm most afraid of. I'm not a complete soundstage addict like Faust, though.
February 9, 200917 yr Walnut soundstage is what I'm most afraid of. I'm not a complete soundstage addict like Faust, though. Well I am addicted, but I still can appreciate good headphone when soundstage is small as long as it's not flat He he he, that came out kinda funny
February 9, 200917 yr I agree. Although I admit I prefer a slightly smaller soundstage that is more well-defined to a larger soundstage that is diffuse. I need to listen to some Sigmas sometime in my life.
February 9, 200917 yr I agree. Although I admit I prefer a slightly smaller soundstage that is more well-defined to a larger soundstage that is diffuse. That statement is win.
February 10, 200917 yr I agree. Although I admit I prefer a slightly smaller soundstage that is more well-defined to a larger soundstage that is diffuse. I need to listen to some Sigmas sometime in my life. Totally agree with the first statement. But why sigmas? Or are the 2 statements unrelated
February 10, 200917 yr I'm sure I'm not the only one that noticed this on ebay...Stax CDP Gotta love the 1/4" headphone jack
February 10, 200917 yr I saw the auction a couple of days ago, but forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me, I put a bid just for kicks.
February 10, 200917 yr Yeah, I saw it, nearly went for the last one that was listed. I don't know how good they are but damn sexy looking!
February 10, 200917 yr Totally agree with the first statement. But why sigmas? Or are the 2 statements unrelated Somewhat related. Sigmas have the biggest soundstage of any headphone short of the K1000 (I assume), so I want to see if I like it.
February 10, 200917 yr The treble on the 4070 is very good and certainly on par with the SR-X Pro. The 4070 is a closed headphone so you loose a bit of sparkle due to that but they are never harsh. Ruthlessly revealing, yes, but never harsh. The Jade reminded me of the 4070. Clear-sounding and neutral. A bit cold and lacking some refinement compared to the O2. Didn't the Jade remind you of the 4070?
February 10, 200917 yr Didn't the Jade remind you of the 4070? No, not really. Sure both are forward but the 4070 is far more reserved and without all the sonic artifacts that the Jade has. The bass on the 4070 lacks bloom but it very detailed and tuneful which can't be said about the Jade. The upper midrange is more open on the Jade but that's just due to the closed nature of the 4070.
February 11, 200917 yr I decided not to give up on the SR-X and with a tweak similar to Asr's Qualia mod (putting something between the headband and the top of my head) and by replacing the old pads I think I might get fair comfort. No, I won't post pictures about it
February 12, 200917 yr Hey guys, big news! I just found out the KSC75 sounds the same as Stax, at a fraction of a fraction of the price! What's with troy, the troll?
February 12, 200917 yr Hey guys, big news! I just found out the KSC75 sounds the same as Stax, at a fraction of a fraction of the price! What's with troy, the troll? Wud, I thought it sounded more like the Senn HD600. In any case you should mod it for best effects. I saw the auction a couple of days ago, but forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me, I put a bid just for kicks. How much was it? I can't find the auction.
February 12, 200917 yr How much was it? I can't find the auction. STAX CDP Quattro II Audiophile CD Compact Disc Player 2 - (eBay.ca item 120371456304 end time 09-Feb-09 21:40:05 EST)
February 12, 200917 yr Still fetching a decent price after so many years. I'd like to get one some day just to look at and play the odd CD
