February 16, 201016 yr Anybody has any experience before? I currently hook 950 from KGSS. My fellow hobbyist from where I live was raving about 404LE and said its a better headphone than 950 and I should get it to complement the 950. FWIR also 404LE got a gleaming review almost everywhere. But no one is yet to comment VS 950. As usual, any comments or advise will be appreciated

February 16, 201016 yr I hope to have both of these within a week (I have the 404LE right now, and am waiting on the 950). Hopefully I'll get a chance to lend one or both of them to mypasswordis soon as well, and he can share some thoughts.

February 17, 201016 yr I've owned two pairs of ESP950 and only briefly heard the 404LE. I think I can safely say that I would go with the 404LE with my taste in sound and even more so with Koss's current predicament. I can guess which one will last longer probably too.

February 17, 201016 yr Author folks, hook up neko d100 i bought from todd, the bass responses improved with the 950. I guess I'm halfway there......There's something magical about this dac that i cannot explain now, it could be new toy syndrome though

February 21, 201016 yr Currently I am using my MPX3 as a pre-amp for the E90 using a 1/4 to RCA adapter. I'm not sure if this is a proper way to use the MPX3, or if it will damage the E90, but it does open up the sound of the 950s quite a bit. Certainly better than stock, which was underwhelming.
February 21, 201016 yr The E90 is still the weak link, all you're likely doing by using the MPX3 is coloring the sound of your source the in the same way that you are used to.
February 21, 201016 yr Even if that is true, and it seems likely that it is, I still get to hear some of the potential of the 950 w/out shelling out another $1000 on an amp. It's a nice solution in the interim. BTW, it does sound better out of my EHHA, as opposed to the MPX3... less coloration, but adequate bass impact. The sound is similar to HE5, but not quite as detailed.
