And it's now already out of stock. Incredible. That wasn't even a full day.

Obviously a lot of people are right there with you postjack.

holy cow, that was fast. well I'm sure they'll get some more in.

I'll be happy to sell mine to headcasers for the low price of only $1500! surely the unit is worth many times that amount. ;)

Shipped! Should have it by Friday. That can mean only one thing: crystal meth, a stack of blu-ray pornos, and hour by hour burn-in updates for a full 7 days.

get pumped head-case!!

Looking forward to the breakdown and pics!

Oh ok, yeah you may as well throw in a few pics of the player while you're at it. ;)

I didn't think fedex delivered on mondays? Unless it is shipped fedex home delivery? If so, it might show up tomorrow...

well I had it shipped to work, and work is closed tomorrow. so if they don't deliver Monday, then its Tuesday.

eh it'll be all good soon enough.

Assuming you didn't have it delivered using FedEx Home Delivery, which I'm assuming isn't the case since you had it sent to your work, it should be delivered on Monday. Only FedEx service that doesn't deliver on Monday is the Home Delivery, which delivers on Tue-Sat.

Where are you parked again?

:)

Great packaging on Oppo's part, simple and effective. Included is a power cable, HDMI cable, and even a cool little USB dongle. Nice touch. Since the USB input is on the back, you can run this little "dock" from the back, supposedly for plugging in flash drives and the like, which is nice because thats how I plan to use it. The player has a good weight to it but isn't incredibly heavy. One thing is for sure, it looks sharp as hell. Clean, simple, and solid. Easy initial setup, the menus are slick and a huge step up from the EGA looking graphics on the 970HD.

Haven't done to much listening, threw on the obligatory Ryan Adams "Heartbreaker" MFSL SACD. I checked the menu for DSD output, but it still is reading SACD PCM on the screen. Off the bat the sound is great, super detailed, I kept thinking it was "aggressively" detailed. Doesn't seem to favor any part of the spectrum, which is great: no muddiness, no overt brightness (though it got bright when it needed to). Throws a great big soundstage, great depth and width. Ryan's vocals aren't the warmest I ever remember them being, but they sound correct and alive, and leap out at me like they are supposed to in this mix.

Next and finally for this evening was a real treat: The Social Network OST on Blu-Ray audio (Reznor). I've been listening to the FLACs of this a lot (free download with Blu-Ray purchase) while I waited for the 95 to arrive. The sound on this disc is really quite marvelous, even my girlfriend walked in the room and said "that sounds great!" Of course its all digital effects and samples, but I listen to a lot of this kind of electronic crap so its important it sound great to me. Again it had a real marvelous soundstage, almost filling the room with a cool soundscape, and tonally it was just downright pleasing. You know when a sample or even a guitar sounds so awesome and midrangey its like someone scratching your back in just the right place? It was like that, very nice.

So much more listening to be done, and much more brain burn in required. Tomorrow I hope to play some King Crimson DVD-As, classical SACD, Hoffman jazz SACD, Grateful Dead HDCD, and some FLACs via USB.

Trust me I'm feeling guilt for not coming here and posting more. :) I always find it difficult to review a source, way easier to review a headphone or speaker. Bottom line is I really like the BDP-95 and am excited for it to be my primary digital source for a very long time to come. DVD-A and SACD sound fantastic, very aggressive in that Sabre way, which I like quite a bit, though I know its not going to be for everyone. I also watched a live NIN Blu-Ray (beside you in time) and March of the Pigs was crazy. I thought my room was going to explode and Robin Fincke was gunna kill me.

What I still haven't done is try the USB input. :( I can't find any of my USB flash drives!

Like the Post-man said, the BDP-95 is very well packed and thoughtfully comes with all the cables you need and a USB wireless adapter that I wasn't even aware was included. It is a very sleek and solid unit and the basic setup was entirely painless. I set up Netflix streaming wirelessly for now, and it played an entire movie fine even though Netflix or Oppo threw up a warning that my connection was weak and there would likely be drop-outs (image quality admittedly wasn't top notch but would improve with ethernet connection or better wifi). I am looking forward to getting the Gallo Stradas set up to better hear what it can do on the audio front. Impressed so far, and already happy I made the leap to the 95.

Al let me know what you think once you set up the Gallo Stradas. Right now with my Oppo 93 I am leaning towards the Nucleus Micro Ti due to the WAF factor but if you really really like the Stradas then I guess I can risk divorce and substitute the Stratos. I don't think Mary will notice the difference.
