mikeymad Posted September 29 Report Posted September 29 ^^ :{ no vid for me.. Chopin: Mazurkas, Vol. 1 by Ingrid Fliter (2025) https://album.link/mcwwxmh8wsm0b Example: The Mazurka's are not my fav for Chopin, but I had not seen a Linn recording in so long, I had to listen. Very enjoyable. Well recorded, but the perspective is a little far back for me (especially compared to the Osokins recording above). For piano only, I like to be a little closer. 2 Quote
robm321 Posted September 29 Report Posted September 29 ^ Agreed about the mics being too far back. Its enough to make me pass on it. 1 Quote
mikeymad Posted September 30 Report Posted September 30 ^^ Volume helps a little bit, but it does not make up for distance. And I already listen to things loud. Anyway... Spring Session M. by Missing Persons (1982) https://album.link/dsbkwqmwbkf0c Example: Go Bozzio or go home... 4 Quote

blessingx Posted October 4 Report Posted October 4 (edited) ^ Walden Green (Pitchfork) agrees with Petridis on Romantic https://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/taylor-swift-actually-romantic/ ‘I’m also filling out my Jack Antonoff apology card as we speak, now that Max Martin and Shellback—ostensibly the great pop minds of the century—have aided and abetted in a song that sounds like the Kidz Bop version of the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?”’ Edited October 4 by blessingx Quote
mikeymad Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 The Life of a Showgirl by Taylor Swift (2025) https://album.link/6czzqws7wv6p3 Example: The internet needs more old white guy opinions of music that has nothing to do with them. So why not one more? I think it is overall a nice album. Very few musicians involved, this is a pure Max Martin and Shellback joint. As Rick Beato would point out, there are 100s of tracks per song. Having this dense of a production I hope goes away pretty soon. There are some funny moments and some poignant moments. Not going into rotation, but not mad at it. 1 Quote

mikeymad Posted October 7 Report Posted October 7 Not For Lack Of Trying by dodie (2025) https://open.qobuz.com/album/ukgy6v7yfn6tb Example: Second time through the album, and like it better than the first time. Released the same day as queen T above. This will have staying power in my queue. 3 Quote
robm321 Posted October 8 Report Posted October 8 I stumbled on this looking for something to listen to now that my queue is empty. I didn't know it existed. It's an interesting combo. All three of these musicians are obviously great. I enjoyed it but their styles didn't mesh all that great for me. ex. 4 Quote
robm321 Posted Friday at 03:34 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:34 PM (edited) I really like this album. The song selection... the way she plays. I've listened to it twice in two days. Good morning coffee music. She got a new fan. ex. Edited Friday at 03:47 PM by robm321 4 Quote
mikeymad Posted yesterday at 02:36 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:36 AM (edited) I have not listened in a few days, I think I overcompensated today. The End Continues by Spinal Tap (2025) https://album.link/wkfchxst380hj Example: A little croaky, but i think it is suppose to be. And fun. Winding down for a bit - Sweet for K by Tsuyoshi Yamamoto (2024) https://album.link/4gr3x3f9djhbs Example: Overall a lovely recording, each tune is presented really well. Taken as a whole it does become a little samey, a touch more variety track to track would have been nice. My first Tsuyoshi, and I like it. Still have Hardly Strictly on my mind Billy Strings - EP by Billy Strings (2016) https://open.qobuz.com/album/hys0x0fa5vicc Example: Just an EP so not too long... But fun. and just a Blue Note - of note. That’s Where It’s At by Stanley Turrentine (1962) https://album.link/nctnpggrt7ckg Example: Edited yesterday at 02:37 AM by mikeymad 2 Quote
