June 20, 20251 yr Where It All Begins by The Allman Brothers Band (1994) https://album.link/mdpnmkzjtgzb7 Example: I am not sure I knew this existed, much less that it was really good. A great set of guitar forward tunes.
June 23, 20251 yr Yesterday's listen's - and this morning. Tiny Things by Tiny Habits (2023) https://album.link/zhq9tcbphnd6p Example: More of an EP at just under 19 minutes. A good listen, they play a strong harmony game, and they play it well. It was not quite what I expected from the album cover, but rewarding on multiple listenings. and More Alfred... Schubert: Piano Quintet - "Trout" by Cleveland Quartet (1978) There are a few more in my queue, but you get the idea...
June 23, 20251 yr Words Fall Short by Joshua Redman (2025) https://album.link/jhxqg6xc93kz7 Example: Second Blue Note release, instrumental with the exception Gabrielle returns for the final track. This is going on the high rotation playlist. Playing with full confidence on this set, and they are playing tight together. Worthy Blue Note release, and the sonics match.

Finally Arcadia by Alison Krauss and Union Station (2025) https://album.link/mx9hftt6ktmgp Example: Full of audio treats. {and yes this was triggered by the Rick interview that just dropped}

June 30, 20251 yr Piazzolla, A.: Suite Punta Del Este / Bragato, J.: Graciela Y Buenos Aires / Arizaga, R.: Passacaglia by Camerata Bariloche (1994) https://album.link/8gdjrv5h0tsx7 Example: This was a staple in my high end listening for a long time. I just happen to think about it the other day. It took a little bit to find it on Qubuz, happy I did. I do miss Dorian Recordings, they were a reliable brand back in the day. Edit: forgot to add that it is good on a warm day. Edited June 30, 20251 yr by mikeymad

I love Piazzolla, and was just starting to listen to some Nuevo Tango (or Tango Nuevo, I don't know which is more correct) the other day, but not familiar with that recording. Thanks for the rec.
July 1, 20251 yr The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume 2 by Barbra Streisand (2025) https://album.link/vjjdhqmm20qzk Example: So I thought I would give the new Barbara drop a listen. Mainly because the Album cover photo scared me a little bit (creepy no?). I am not mad at it, but there isn't anything really there as well. A series of 'nice' tunes and 'nice' production. Along with creepy love songs with Sam Smith and the like. What I didn't expect was the Credits --- This for ONE song! And the entire album is like this. Crazy: One Heart, One Voice -- Barbra Streisand/Walter Afanasieff Charlie Midnight, Composer, Lyricist Peter Asher, Producer Bruce Dukov, Concert Master Jay Landers, Composer, Lyricist, Executive Producer Steve Orchard, Recording Engineer Everton Nelson, Orchestra WALTER AFANASIEFF, Composer, Lyricist, Producer, Keyboards, Piano, AssociatedPerformer Simon Rhodes, Recording Engineer Jochem Van Der Saag, Mastering Engineer, Programmer, Mixing Engineer, Recording Engineer William Ross, Conductor, AssociatedPerformer Erik Lutkins, Recording Engineer Gina Zimmitti, Contractor Brian Garten, Recording Engineer Wesley Seidman, Recording Engineer Mariah Carey, Vocal, with Steve Genewick, Recording Engineer Shawn Murphy, Recording Engineer Michael Aarvold, Recording Engineer Ivy Skoff, Contractor, Coordinator Nathaniel Kunkel, Recording Engineer Barbra Streisand, Executive Producer, MainArtist, AssociatedPerformer, Vocal Ariana Grande, Vocal, with Andrew Synowiec, Electric Guitar Adrian Bradford, Recording Engineer Erik Swanson, Engineer Whitney Martin, Contractor Daniel Cullen, Engineer Paul Blakemore, Mastering Engineer George Oulton, Recording Engineer Dmytro Gordon, Engineer Greg Foeller, Engineer Lou Carrao, Recording Engineer Alisse Laymac, Engineer Colby Donaldson, Engineer Dylan Waterhouse, Engineer Josh Kay, Engineer Mirza Sheriff, Engineer Nick Hodges, Engineer Marta DiNozzi, Engineer Kristina Fisk, Engineer Nolan Bacardi, Engineer Barbra Streisand with Mariah Carey & Ariana Grande, AssociatedPerformer (P) 2025 Columbia Records, a Division of Sony Music Entertainment

July 5, 2025Jul 5 Earlier today: Mozart by Andrè Schuen (2025) https://album.link/zc3gjd890sm4w Example: Released today - I usually don't go in for much choral/opera recordings other than full operas. But I thought I would give this a try and was very happy I did. Mostly selections of Figaro and Don Giovanni, along with a few others. The performance is good, and the recording is impeccable. When the hour was over, I wanted more, good testament to the album.
July 9, 2025Jul 9 Not going to go see them on tour but that doesn't mean I can't dust off the old records and jam out.
July 10, 2025Jul 10 YouTube algorithm gave me this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0a3HdFyexE Preview render fail. Jazz Fusion It was awesome, so I looked up some of the others https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DimxQV6oCWI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmgGcE8vNPE ...which sent me down the Senri Kawaguchi rabbit hole (she's a jazz fusion drummer). I determined that she always associates with (chef's kiss) musicians, so I've been listening to a lot of her projects: Senri Kawaguchi Triangle, Jazz Avengers, et al. -- in addition to Nankai Trio. Antarctica will probably be my album of the year. I really love jazz fusion. EDIT: Oh, I fell down a different rabbit hole a while ago, while following the different acts that keyboardist Kiyomi Otaka from Casiopea was in. One of them was Kiyo*Sen, which was the two of them in a keyboard/drum collaboration.
July 10, 2025Jul 10 Crossing Borders by La Serenissima (2025) https://album.link/j4gkqzjvdxptv Example: Not what I expected from the album cover, but a lovely collection of Telemann, Sieber, Durante, Vivaldi, and Brescianello. Very well recorded and performed.
July 10, 2025Jul 10 Reminds me of some of the Steel Panther stuff..... EDIT: D'oh! Didn't read that one of the Steel Panther guys is in it! Makes sense.... Edited July 10, 2025Jul 10 by skullguise
