  2. Just learned that Michael Kohlbecker died. In the 90s he made pounding hard trance on the then-mighty Harthouse label. I especially like the work did under the Eternal Basement name. I had a whole stack of Harthouse compilations in the mid 90s the EB tracks stuck out even amongst his legendary peers. Later, he'd go on to do ambient downtempo weirdness with a rotating crew of compatriots as the Saafi Brothers. While I outgrew the hard trance sound fairly quickly, the better Saafi tracks have stuck with me for decades. My favorite track by them is still this one: In classic SB fashion, it takes forever to get going and goes on far longer than it has any need to. With that said, I used to put it on whole I was cooking dinner in the 00s. I've mixed parts of it in to my radio show many times over the years. It's got the best shuffling bassline.
  3. Boards of Canada Reveal New Album Inferno. First new BoC album in 13(!) years. Hol. Lee. Fuk. 🤯
  4. Ghosts, nudes and lesbian pageant queens: highlights from NYC’s Photography Show – in pictures https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/gallery/2026/apr/22/aipad-photography-show-new-york
  5. GoGo Penguin "Necessary Fictions" The interplay between the drummers of GoGo Penguin and Mammal Hands is fascinating: Rob Turner, Jesse Barrett and Jon Scott. I consider all three drummers to be great, with fantastic sounds and grooves that give both trios a lot of character. I love the tracks where they play syncopated rhythms... microtextures or simply seem to be off-beat before returning to the correct tempo.
  6. Agreed. This year is such a disaster that they did something they've never done and changed the rules mid season. I'll keep my expectations low but we'll see.

  9. Good Lord. He's the Akakichi no Eleven meme come to life.
  10. Punch Brothers just dropped a new track. New album out at the end of the week. This track really features new member (I am a fan) Brittany Haas on fiddle. Edit: oops I meant to drop this in the Video thread, oh well, leaving it.
  11. Impressive.
  12. I am smitten -- this is gorgeous, right up there with Ólafur Arnalds. Thank you for sharing.
  13. Yesterday: Finally had a clear "two person" day, so Out with the Old. Well 💩, that explains a lot. No time to tilt the the house, so In with the New: Good enough for one day. I must say using a laser level is a game changer ensuring that things are level and line up, even if the building is out of true. Just remember: And then today, some finishing touches, and cable management. And then finally voice automation. Because: Of course. Some non ideal / contrived syntax commands because: reasons, but that's balkanized home automation. Looks nice though (Marin OLED 2 time club)
  14. I've always been a fan of her as an actress, but jiminy, this 1 minute as a musician is sublime.

  20. I discovered them in January... I like the drums, but I admit I still find it hard to listen to them.
  21. Skooby somwehere back in the thread. This is a nice sturdy box using it as heatsink is a good idea.
  22. Patio Brunch
  23. For Dada, Puzzle is their definitive album (albeit in a pretty short career) and would be my recommended next album listen
