What do you think? Should I jump on the HE90 without ever auditioning it (a chance which I'll never get anyways)? I'm a huge fan of the HD 650, favourite headphones probably, warts and all, and also liked the O2 very much when I heard them decently amped. Somebody offered the HE90 to me at a fair price with the Stax adapter. The seller also offered me a KGSS DX tuned for the HE90 as an optional buy, any thoughts on that? Just please talk me into or out of it. Thanks and sweet forum by the way.

First of all my mailman is awesome. This is what it looks like right now outside my apartment. All that snow on the deck is fresh, and it's going to continue for another 5 or 6 hours. The entire town has pretty much shut down (I didn't have to go the hospital, so I spent all day comparing headphones, what a life) yet I still get my package! This pair is bone stock, NOS. Overview My K340 says "electrostatic-dynamic systems" on the earcups. I'm not sure if they are bass heavy, bass light or the third one. What I do know is that they are a NOS pair that only has around 10 or so hours on them. I've been in contact with my seller the whole time who was really fr…

After nearly a year with the W5000, it was time for some new woodie love! I wasn't sure if I would like them soundwise, based on the many various comments, but I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. What a great midrange!

So I got teased a bit in another thread when I mentioned I ordered some HD600 grills for my HD580, because I thought that would essentially make them HD600s. Is this not the case? Do the 580's and the 600's indeed have the same drivers? If so, what is it that makes the 600's different aside from the grills, are the enclosures different?

I just go these today, and overall I'm very impressed: they sound really good for their price. They don't have the technical abilities of other high-end phones, but they do no nothing wrong, have a very involving midrange, and an intimate soundstage. I do wish that their earpads are bigger/deeper, as their shallowness make them not really circumaural to my ears. But what surprised me the most was how hard they are to drive. I had to turn my Lavry up past where I usually listen at for the HD650s. I can't wait to hear them out of my soon-coming Dynahi.

I managed to get a pair for pretty cheap, but I'm not really expecting much. At the very least I hope they can trump the KSC-75 for movies and laptop use.

I'm primarily a Senn guy, though I enjoy my SR225 from time to time, kind of like a fun diversion. I'm listening to Depeche Mode's "I Want You Now" right now, the fun, upfront sound is just cool, puts a smile on my face . I've especially enjoyed them since I got my PPX3 Slam, they benefit a lot from warmer amplification. What I want is to hear the Grado sound with more clarity and bass extension. Will I get this from the RS-1? Yeah I know the price is outrageous, but there is a beater user grade pair for sale over at Head-Fi right now for under 500, and it has me thinking. So whats the real story here? Is the RS-1 a decent enough can or is it kind of... well... ma…

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about a new headphone .... or modded headphone called the Alessandro MS2 Magnum. A head-fi buddy mentioned this to me. The phone will cost like $200-300 more than the standard headphone and supposedly be very PS-1 like. Anyone?

So I just got my Etymotic ER-4P's and they're sweet, but I want to use the foam tips and I can't figure out how to put them on. Do I just shove the tube into the clear tubing or do i take the clear tubing out? WTF!!

For those who missed it (either on gadget news sites or Head-Fi), Shure has updated their lineup. http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/06/shure-shows-off-its-new-se210-se310-se420-and-se530-earphones/ Meh, nothing special though.

As much as I like my K1000 setup, I can't lie down with them, so I started looking for "normal" headphones. I really had no specific trait of what to look for, since sonically I was pretty satisfied with the K1000. I basically just bought whatever I felt like, and it's more exciting this way. I bought the W5000s first because I've been curious about the Audio-Technica high-end. Later I bought the HD650s, since I've never had them, and I feel like I should give them a chance because they are one of, if not the, most popular audiophile cans still in production. Since I'm stuck at my parents' house over the winter break, I had the chance to go back and forth and do some care…

I want a headphone to use on my exercise bike. The bike is quite noisy, so I need noise isolation. I understand from some browsing that the In Ear Monitors are nice for noise isolation, value, and sound quality. I am looking at the etymotic ER-4P, and the Shure E4c, or something in that price range (about $300 list, $175 online price) I like to listen to a variety of music, including rock, bluegrass, jazz and classical. Thanks for any advice.

WTH do I go for now? Bit bored of O2. And the 701 does give me a headache after all. Don't really fancy another CEO's Mother's Cat's 15th Birthday Anniversary limited edition A-T's either. Kinda actually hating the 'rituals' that come with higher-end phones in general, be it care in handling, audio / placing juju, comfort issues, etc. Thinking about going back to the HD650. Anything else on the horizon I can get interested about?

Anyways, as anyone can see Im new here. *blush* So, Hi? I have about 130 CAD to spend on some semi-decent cans this week. Any suggestions? I've looked at the senn 280, and grado 60. Id like to know in your honorable opinions which one is the nicer choice.

I really like the K1000 and Grados. The HD650 is cool too, just looking for a third headphone. Just wondering how the bass and soundstage is compared to the HD580 or HD650 (even K501)? Is there good extension on both ends? Going to use it with the built in amp on the Lavry. addendum: I really disliked the HD590. It was one of the worst expensive headphones I've heard. It was my benchmark for no midrange...the 595 does improve on it a lot right...? And after spending a lot of time with the 580/650, if I were to call any Senn dark it would be the 590.

Ugh.. I have sent them 5 unanswered emails, as well as called three times. All I want is a pair of K271 velour pads, and the foam inserts from a K240. Can anyone advise me here?

So my Alessandro's are on majorrrr back order and I won't be getting those for awhile and my ears are curious about the ATH sound. Are there any entry level Audio Technicas that you would recommend to see if I would like their sound or not? Nothing expensive and I'd want to be able to have the ability to return them if I have to. Any suggestions?
