  2. So for my 60th birthday my (way ) better half got around $2.5K of reissues. Here are a few of the must own I've listened to so far. Led Zeppeplin one the first LP. Go buy it now. She got me I II III reissues. All good , but the first LP is great. Freddie Hubbard "red clay" 45rpm Elvis 24K hits 45rpm Oscar Peterson trio "west side story" 45rpm verve reissue. I have all the verve reissues. ALL GREAT Lee Morgan "the gigolo" 45rpm "The blues and the abstract truth" impulse reissue 45rpm. run don't walk and get this if you don't have it for your jazz collection! Still haven't heard them all yet but these stand out.

  3. Some of you saw it on Facebook, but I picked up an '03 Subaru Outback yesterday. Drives fabulously, and got a clean bill of health from the mechanic, so I should be good to go for many years to come on their bulletproof H6/4AT powertrain. And of course, I got the one with McIntosh sound system

  5. Walked into a local AV store and their showcase display was the late, lamented Panny TX-P65VT65. "Wish they still made those." "Yeah." "What are you going to do with that?" "Sell it, eventually." "How about selling it now?" "Let me call the boss." (Some haggling ensues.) It looks really good.

  6. Not today but last night. A business dinner meeting which we were lucky enough to have the chef in a good mood so he prepared a five course off menu dinner built around a 2012 Booker White Rhone blend that I brought and a 2009 French white Rhone my dinner partner brought. for starters this cucumber based salad with yogurt a Spanish chili grated along with a bunch of Persian spices and Meyer lemon zest. Yummy with the Booker Rhone blend. Next, a Ahi tuna course, layered with radishes and with wasabi and a sesame and sweet potato consume. Was excellent with the French white Rhone. Next a crusted shrimp dish that I forgot to take a picture of which again was excellent with the 2009 French Rhone. You can guess what this is and which wine went well with this. A A desert he just made up on the spot based upon the aromas of the two Rhone wines. We ran out of white wine so we had this for desert. This shit is awesome! /\ /\ /\ /\ /\

  7. Strange how you'll spend several times what you ever thought you would for a pets treatment one year, and give up for silly practical reasons the next. Have a drink for Miko tonight. We just put him to sleep after several medical issues worsened, lymphoma most immediately. Thanks buddy for all the years of taking care of Melissa on sick days & helping keep her warm on cold nights and recently being so patient as Esmé slowly learned the meaning of the word 'gentle.' Overall one stand up cat. From his last walk this morning...

  11. Yeah, it should be fun. The east side of the lake house route looks pretty sweet, I think a century ride would be fun! The Lakes and Grapes century looks pretty nice too, hope you have a good ride out there. Because not everyone's on facebook, here's a pic of me during the first lap of the TT: Since it was the first lap, I wasn't nearly as dead....things changed during the second lap: http://brokenspokephotography.smugmug.com/Sports/That-Dam-Time-Trial/i-MJkmw8s/A and an interesting picture of a bouncing chain along with the race number malfunction I had: http://brokenspokephotography.smugmug.com/Sports/That-Dam-Time-Trial/i-QfmNQSQ/A

  12. Bought it from GE. KG looked it over and safetified it, so it is less likely to explode. I just can't pull the tubes out until 20 minutes after the amp is powered down or I will be electrocuted. Hi fi is badass.
