  1. One picture says it all- Just started to recover from a full day of a fencing tournament. This was the third and final for the three novice fencer series tournament. Lance's total was nineteen wins and one loss. It was a good if not nerve wracking day. Cheers all!
  2. At Russian River brewing co sippin a Pliny
  3. Sometimes it's the little things in life..... Went to a CVS today on the way back from dropping Andrew off at work. Saw a cute handmade/knit case for eyeglasses on the ground. Picked it up, brought it inside, and gave it a young lady at the front counter. Bought my things, and literally as I'm leaving I hear a woman say with a fair bit of emotion, "Oh, you found it, THANK YOU..." Turns out it was handmade by her mom, who has since passed away.
  4. I've got a prescription for antibiotics so everything should be fine
  5. Nexus 6 supposedly wil be available in 2 days on T Mobile. Will probably buy at the end of November or early December, will be interesting to see Band 12 coverage increase over the next year. Never had a phablet before, might as well start with the biggest one available.
  6. Replaced the nonfunctional HD in our 20" imac with an SSD. Now installing the OS, just happy there were no parts left over after I put it all back together.
  7. Mappy Hirthday Bikey!!!!
  8. Doug, I have a kit to build the Doc Bottlehead Straight-8 speakers. I'd have to check to verify that all the pieces are still there. I did put a dimple in one tweeter with my thumb but believe there are ways to pull it out. I'd be happy to send it to you if you pay the cost of shipping. It's damn heavy so shipping won't be cheap, but it would be a lot less than $3K. I also have some enclosures built and would be happy to send them too, but shipping would be really expensive for them. They are made of HDF (heavy density fiberboard) and weigh a ton. The enclosures have rosewood trim and eucalyptus veneer, but the veneer has dried and would, imo, need to be removed and replaced.
  9. We have no way of knowing when Stax did the change but no way the amp is responsible for that change. Unit to unit variation could be a part of this but no way it's the sold reason. Two ways to do this, first unclip the two sections and they fall apart. Almost impossible to and shows that Stax never thought this stuff would be taken apart. The way that actually works is to unscrew the fork and remove it, then slowly pull the pieces off the arc while making sure the brake inside doesn't get caught. Hard to get it back together though...
  10. Did you check under the couch?
  11. I am currently running my former 16Gb iMac with an additional 16Gb of Crucial Ram. It works the same as before the upgrade, well except for the fact that my R code runs faster. It is the latest non retina version with an i7 and the NVIDIA 775M.
  12. A plug for hackintoshes. No crashes or any need to putz around with anything since I installed Yosemite (2 days after it was released). Everything has been working perfectly after initial configuration
  13. I tend to think anything but TOTL B&W stuff is too beamy and doesn't create warmth and enveloping realism, but that goes back aways. In addition to passive ATCs, which I think you would like a lot, I think you should check out DeVore speakers. There are some on Audiogon right now that are below, just above and way above your price range, but there will be others out there as well. The aesthetic and cat-friendliness is right and the sound is great.
  14. 1 point
The board run I did was for 2 oz copper, 1.6mm FR4 HASL.
  15. DIY rack, 25mm Marine Ply... does the job.
  16. The first five were pretty damn awesome! I'd be up for Death Valley camping - drinking and a fly by Can Jam
  17. I'm really hoping a KGSS can power them well enough as I'm already considering getting a 4070 (and that amp) as it is.
