Went to Crossroads Guitar Shop, got talked into buying a Vox Mini5 -- it'll be great. I like the size, I can put it right in front of me in place of a laptop. Went to post office -- picked up above discussed guitar. (Uh...yeah, did I mention it was another guitar? Cheap one, at least.) Tuning it now, works like a champ! I didn't get scammed, hurray!2 points

Hope everyone had a great x'mas. My little girl just turned two years old on x'mas day so we all had a great time.2 points

I'm hoping to leverage the success of the article into a follow along that allows me to sample on or two, higher end models but I'm already working on two other pieces so it's going to be a while before I get to anything like that.2 points

Rohm's got some new stuff that's not quite as good as the BC550/560 pairs with regards to ft, but the Hfe/Ic curves look a fair bit more linear and better matched between the P and N parts, going by the datasheets. 2SA1576 / 2SC4081 2SA1774 / 2SC46171 point

One day at a time, Larry. I know there is a lot to consider, but you can only do one day at a time. If that turns out to be overwhelming, go to one hour at a time. That's all that can be expected. I know you are trying to get all these things in "pre fetch" in your brain so you can choose the best way to make sure they all come out right. And the pain meds will certainly keep you from getting too far. But pick one or two for now, then maybe write down some brainstorm ideas so that next time you are clear headed you can pick up where you were earlier. We're all behind you.1 point

I've decided I'm going to build a smaller version of Kevin's digital attenuator boards and add an MCU and small OLED display. I already provisioned the 5V on the PSU (instead of my original thought to do 12V). I've got a .333mA transformer and I'm trying to keep it all around 230mA, which I think I can do. I'm also going to add a USB DAC. I'm really liking what AMB is doing with the Zeta1. Since I want balanced output, I can't use the gamma 1.5. The gamma 3 is more than I need for this and much more than I could fit. I'll likely just keep it to USB (no SPDIF). I'm also likely going to use an ASRC (same from the Gamma2). I've already done this in another DAC. I'm also going to build in some isolation for the I2S and I2C (if I decide to go with software mode on the WM8741). I won't be able to cut dual mono not enough space or power. I had a very cool thought that I should also add a built in digital volt meter. Besides being very cool, this could help adjust the bias between the +/- for each channel. I've got a preliminary design and so far it seems to work in LTSpice. It'll have a range of +/-30V, which is more than I need. I'm going to go with a single knob/encoder with a momentary switch for volume control and to run through the menus.1 point

My iPhone 6 now feels small, and the 6+ feels normal to me. I was going to use 6+ like a glorified iPad mini, but now I'm using it as my phone too.1 point

I'm not sure you ever mentioned what it was, Dusty, so the mini saga had me intrigued. Could have been an autographed picture of Grumpy Cat for all I knew Glad it ended well.1 point

Very good (well, mostly). My ex-housemate was a big believer in the empathic abilities of kitties -- they sense when you're hurting and attend you more when they detect pain.1 point

I have the same Mini5 from Crossroads. Great little amp when you figure out some of the rhythm and guitar types.1 point

Merry (belated) Christmas, everyone. You're a bunch of good people, if that makes any sense... As others have wished as well, I'm sending out warm thoughts and positive vibes for all who had rough years in 2014. It's going to get better.1 point

I just know I always buy my gear from Adorama because crappy has such bad luck with them. **BRENT**1 point

The other guy's insurance will pay out to the limits of his auto insurance policy. My insurance will then kick in, but will try to hang onto their money just the same. And there are some bills that we've already been lined up to pay for (wheelchair rental, purchase commode chair and shower chair). In 10 days I go home and someone's gotta be paying for a home health aid to come into the house for two wheelchair bound victims, while my wife's works full time and my other kids go back to school. I started off already disabled, and my status was fragile due to my lung disease, fibromylagia/tendonitis, and chronic upper body weakness with obesity. This is starting to push me over the edge of what I'm capable of. So, I've retained a very nice lawyer whose daughter goes to school with my girls. He'll let me focus on recovery instead of juggling insurance companies. He has a very good reputation.1 point
