  2. I think I'm finally figuring out how to take portraits. NYC 2015 Easter Parade by Lord Nikon 12, on Flickr Fire Hydrant Portrait by Lord Nikon 12, on Flickr NYC 2015 Easter Parade by Lord Nikon 12, on Flickr The trick for people is to use the 14mm lens, and get less than 2ft away. With this technique failure is impossible. For fire hydrants, you should make some noise while at a distance of approximately 30-45ft so as not to startle the creature. Then approach slowly and in silence never breaking eye contact even for an instant. The fire hydrant can see your trepidation. If you need to look at your camera to adjust settings the Fire Hydrant knows and is laughing at you. Anyways, once you get to within shooting range of the fire hydrant, crouch down low so that you are at its eye level, and in one smooth motion bring your camera to your eye and fire. The Fire Hydrant will make a funny face if you wait too long to take its picture. I once heard a fire hydrant mutter something along the lines of "like a tourist who gets all his friends together, clears the sidewalk, and then starts to look for the camera app on his phone" to a photographer. Seriously, Easter parade photos are up on my Flikr page. Click for all the photos Guggenheim NYC by Lord Nikon 12, on Flickr

  3. Our contract finally ended, and the day of cable cutting is at hand. We switched to Comcast for internet + HBO. Should save us >$1000/year which is nuts.

  4. Okay, Raffy and Justin are in. I just remembered Carl started riding again a couple months ago. I'll see if I can rally up the Ft. Lauderdale boys.

  5. Last fall, both HBO and Showtime announced unbundled services would be offered in 2015. It looks like HBO is available (HBO Now). Not sure when Showtime will be. http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/11/16/hbo-cbs-and-showtime-are-helping-you-cut-the-cord.aspx I guess if your HBO Go is working, run with it

  7. RN65 resistors won't work, they are huge. The RN numbering is milspec so a 1/8W resistors is actually 1/4W, 1/4W is actually 1/2W and so on. Here is the diode, use it: 511-STTH512FP This is the resistor you want: 71-RN60D1743F

  8. Actually, I've never seen The IT Crowd other than bits and clips that Graim posts, so started watching it. Brilliant. "You two are used to being social piranhas."

  9. Well, I plan on getting the black sports one. I've become a bit addicted to activity trackers (wearing a vivosmart currently, which syncs with my garmin edge), and this seams to offer the best those have to offer plus a bit more. My only concerns are the battery life when using the features i like and how accurate the HR meter will be.

  10. I would add one other comment - whether or not you see or read of any design changes between the GT and GTA/B versions, remember that when the 6SN7GTA and B were designed in 1950 and 1954 there were no transistors, just tubes. They were designed and built by RCA, GE, Sylvania, all the big manufacturers, and used in all sorts of electronic instruments, industrial electronics, military equipment, etc. Engineers design using manufacturer specifications. Do you REALLY think that if the tubes were under designed, unreliable and didn't meet its specs hat it would have become as popular as it did? Sorry, and no offense, but cynicism or no cynicism that makes NO FUCKING SENSE!! And I mean that in the nicest way.
