  1. Uhm, thanks for all the praise, however it's aimed at the wrong person. While I was able to procure the wood, and played a part in making an actual plan from a picture, it was Al who did most of the woodworking on this project. He is a natural at this! His attention to detail and his ability to soak up knowledge surpass all expectations I had. Our little Lawyer man is growing up so fast! And I knew there were bound to be jokes about me and Armistead's wood. Glad to see G-Man is at the top of his game!
  2. Nice! We’re having ahi tuna. The family occasionally demands a break from beef. Still good protein leverage!
  3. Our house meets the highest residential hurricane standards in Florida so all the load ratings are HC class. Therefore, not worried about any structural damage from the safe. Now, if the insurance company gives us trouble, I suppose I will just have to open up the safe and go from there.

  5. If you don't have a fan/vent for your sex slave, you don't have a sex slave for long. ?
  6. Wilco - Ghost is Born what a great album, dare I say I prefer it over yankee hotel foxtrot
  7. Finished putting the modular safe together in the extra bedroom. Everything now safely locked up.
  8. So you're saying Steve worked on and oiled Armistead Maupin's wood to create an exceptional finish? The man is an artist. Nice Chaise.
  9. So Tice removed a deck at his job site, which is Armistead Maupin's former home. In his genius he recognized it to be Brazilian Ipe that was only screwed down from one side. The new owner eventually agreed to give the boards to the contractor and Steve's bosses gave them to him. Claire has been asking for an outdoor chaise lounge so Steve donated the Ipe and his skills to the project. Here is what the boards look like without any work and then a progression from weathered (as received) to planed to sanded and then to oiled with Tried & True linseed oil with beeswax. We chose a design from Restoration Hardware as the basis for Claire's chaise and essentially winged it from there. Here is the original and the final product with a side table, finished just before our vacation but built to last for many years. There is no stain or pigment in the oil so the finished look truly blew us both away. Thanks Steve for supplying the wood *snicker* and the knowledge and know how to make this come together.
  10. Anne’s one day late birthday dinner Strozzapreti with truffle pesto and freshly shaved truffle Braised short rib of beef mirepoix, roasted scallops Peach phyllo thing with vanilla semifredo and caramel sauce
  11. I have the Garmin Fenix 5 Sapphire and it mostly works. Sleep tracking has never worked, seems to be a common issue, and the bluetooth connection to the app for automatic uploads gets screwed up a lot. Everything else is decent and the battery life is awesome. Getting weeks of use on a charge for a "smart" watch is pretty impressive to me.
  12. I went ahead and bought a Vivoactive 3 from Amazon today. Will report back on how it is.
  13. Think I'm going to try one of the tracker rings, probably Motiv. I want the activity data but also want to wear a mechanical watch most days and don't like two-wristing it.
  14. That beast is on ground floor, on concrete? I guess if it isn't, it will be, soon!
  15. I never knew safes were electric.

  18. Full of libations and headphones no doubt!
  19. We'll be able to ship the SR-009S pre-orders by the end of the week or Monday. Same for the SRM-D10 DAC/Amp
  20. Much apreciated. Head-case, came for the phones, stayed for the food. bah dum tss.
  21. Yesterday was Valentine´s Day in here. My wife works late hours in such hollidays, so we celebrate at home. Buffalo mozzarella, faux pesto (pecans instead of pinoles, ´cause they are freeking expensive), Parma ham and the usual basil.
  22. Steak with salsa verde, broccolini and smoked BBQ spuds.
  23. Dogfish Head Alehouse' Nashville Chicken I ate everything but the biscuit, which I mutilated until no-one would want it, so Brent couldn't even enjoy it vicariously.
  24. I do this walk leading thing now to keep myself out of mischief. So I ended up volunteering to lead our local Ramblers group on their Summer Awayday on a 12 mile route in the Cotswolds yesterday. Biggest group I've taken out so far - 20 turned up! Anyway, this is the group. The little stream just behind us is the early bit of the river Windrush, which is a tributary of the Thames - it joins the Thames after another 35 miles. They all seem to have had a good time from their comments at the end. I'm the guy with the red hat.
  25. Celebrated dropping over $6k on exercise equipment for the home gym by immediately going out for Chicken and Waffles and Whiskey Beignets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  26. Went to PRS Experience today for a couple hours, that was fun. Didn't buy anything. And this is why I don't usually do pictures -- the one guitar I was most fond of -- a beautiful private stock with a magenta/fuchsia top, fretboard, and headstock, didn't come out for some reason (I had just changed my battery). Either that or I forgot to take a picture of it. https://imgur.com/gallery/OqTx9iH
  27. This is the new version of this ES. amp using a pair of Mundorf Supreme EVO instead of input transformers. When using coupling capacitors, the ground is not isolated anymore like a line input transformer with Faraday shield, and <1M grid risistors should be connected to the grids of ECC88 to establish a -420V DC bias voltage, which is the same bias voltage as transformer input version. This capacitor coupled version sounds more straightforward, more transparent, but with less "transformer distortion" which is a fraction of traditional "tuby sound". And finally, the finished amp with power supply unit in one of my friends home.
  28. The SR-009S will be here in about 1 week
