  1. In other news, I just got back the analog input board and assembled the amp. The sandwich is 6.2mm thick + bottom components for a total of about 9mm thick. Batteries are about 10mm on top of the input board. Back plate on and plugged into USB-C (charging LED on) Why we did this... Portable music Just analog from my phone at the moment. DAC is up next PS The Weight is 12oz or 340g
  2. I love how absurd the stax plug looks on such a tiny amp

    Still smiling about this one

No, they're $1,600. You must have seen the Euro numbers. $1,600 for standard, one size fits all IEMs seems a bit steep to me. I guess if the market will bare it?
  5. You know I have to ask what the drinks were and how they tasted.

Some "old, beat up gear" given to a guy on /r/audiophile by his GF's dad.
  7. Building the world’s least efficient hardwood cutoff storage cabinet. Really needed the drawers above it so instead of doing the typical, proper, vertical cabinet, I went half-assed and threw all the sticks in a big drawer with sheets goods held behind the cabinet against the wall. Oh Yeah, the reason for the uneven overhang is I am going to mount the Wilton Woodworking vice on the one side and needed all the clearance. Oh Yeah Part Two, I also FINALLY got around to hanging the small French cleat panel I made way back. The craftsmanship in these holders in embarrassing.
  8. you want the ground2 file.
  9. No reason for anyone to watch these unless it's already in your history (I know so for some members) or you're curious of Star Trek alternatives. Important to remember Martin Landau rejected being Spock to take over this "Kirk". The much bigger change was UFO to Space:1999.

I remember those little, lightweight, plastic headphones with the Yellow foam earpads that were so different than any other headphones out there in the 70's. You could actually listen for hours without your ears sweating. They were definitely innovators. End of an era, but change is a constant.
  12. Here's some pics of the power supply inside a Canon build...
  13. Just built my mini GRLV supplies. The Negative came up just fine and works perfectly The positive supply is giving me some issues and I'll need to debug it. Here's some pictures... This pic shows a board I made for the Blue Hawaii that has the +5V, Digital Controller (ATMega328P) and Digital attenuator board along with the GR7/9xx regulators. I'll mount them once the positive supply is working.
  14. So I think this is pretty cool (sorry to toot my own horn, but I can't help it sometimes ). I've been meaning to miniaturize the GRLV supplies. I've got them down to boards that are 1.16" (H) x .8" (W). The output transistor mounts to the board and you can mount it directly to heat sinks. They are designed as LM78xx and LM79xx except with a TO-247 footprint. This means you'll still need the supporting components (bridge, diode and a few caps) that are found on the current boards. Here's what they'll look like... Note that the pass transistor will be folded up on to the board and you'll need to put some mounting pins in. I've made it so it is the same size as a standard horizontal TO-247 mount. EDIT: Note that there are set resistors are on the board (R2, R3) so the boards act like fixed regulators in the circuit.
  15. I got some terribly sad news last night from one of my sisters that a close family friend lost her baby in week 40 of her pregnancy. It would have been her and her husband's second child. I can't even imagine how devastated they must be. It is very, very sad.
