  1. Okay - everybody... Just slow your roll..... The Art Of Tea Michael Franks 1976 https://album.link/i/484683051 Example: I didn't know how much I needed my roll slowed until I listened to this album this afternoon. Well recorded and smooth in the vein of Steely Dan. I'm good now... ... and with lyrics like this (from Eggplant): "When my baby cooks her eggplant She don't read no book She's got a Gioconda kinda of dirty look And my baby cooks her eggplant About 19 different ways Sometimes I just have it raw with mayonnaise" I am not sure what he is talking about, but I am pretty sure it is not eggplant. And the album has the now jazz standard of Popsicle Toes.
  2. 3 points
Just read about a company that 1) restores older Apogee ribbon speakers, and 2) makes their own in the same tech vein.... I liked some of the old Apogee's, so was nice to hear this. Clarisys Audio is the name....
  3. Listening now. Enjoying the subtle underlying groove and lyrics. Smooth is definitely the word.
  4. I had my Niche set at 16 so dialing back to 12 the assess the progress. Thanks for the suggestions and responses.
  5. nope, going to need two boxes. no easy way to stack the front end board onto the heatsinks. the 2 boards will take up much of the bottom. zero feedback generally ends up with a lower damping factor. so to boost the damping factor need more output transistors in parallel. and the sanken parts are actually 2 die in each package. and are to3p. i could go to 3 or 4 pairs of output transistors for even lower output impedance. the idea is to drive jbl m2's with the amplification they deserve. not a pair of crown industrial amps. and things like the susvara.
  6. My impression is that this is intended to be a Muscle CFA3. You probably want 3U – at least. No V12 engine in a Volkswagen Beetle.
  7. its already a split board. the power resistors make it impossible to shrink. joamat may come up with a solution but i doubt it. but you can download some free layout software and try to come up with something smaller.
  8. ^Also Wednesday (Netflix) - six eps in, two to go. It's fab👍
  9. Like Dan said, you want to go a lot finer. I do about 45-60 seconds with the flair, usually going to 6 bar and then ramping down. I’m at around 10-12 on the Niche, which is substantially finer than I use with the dual boiler (it would choke). 15 seconds is definitely a turbo shot. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s not the sort of espresso I typically make. My recommendation: go finer until you hit the point where you aren’t getting any water flow, then go a bit coarser until you can immediately peg the pressure you are looking for with control. There will be substantial resistance; patience is key, as with all things espresso. I’ve pulled some long, think two minutes, ristrettos with the Flair 58 that were absolutely delicious. They were a workout.
  10. Tested the negative GRHV today, same performance. Was regulating at -55Vdc with the 100K resistor in. Removed it and tested at full voltage. -406.5Vdc, stable. Now for the Carbon boards.
  11. ^ Are we still talking coffee here? NTTAWWT. 15 seconds isn't bad for your age.
