  3. Dept. Q (Netflix) - An Edinburgh-based detective involved in a shooting gets re-assigned to a newly-formed cold-case department. A crazy set of twists & turns connects all the dots. We liked it alot. Hopefully there will be an S2.

  4. Funny, I just came here to post what I listened to yesterday. The sound quality is pristine. I've always been a fan of HDCD, especiallly in Reference Recording's hands. YMMV, but I very much enjoy the performance as well. I've had this disc for years.

  5. Are we alive, Walnut Creek? Part Deux, it's 4/4 time with Neon Velvet. I can neither confirm nor deny if there was any getting on down. The Band were down with post gig selfies. And a Chauffeur driven ride, to and from the venue. This is Walnut Creek, after all.

  6. Make some noise, Walnut Creek! Walnut Creek Art and Wine Festival part 1 with Pride and Joy (SF). We managed to set up on a slope, with a view overlooking the east stage, shade, and the odd waft of Jazz Cigarettes. The crowd are on their feet, getting on down. Interesting view the other way.

  7. Al and I are building a bathroom vanity, and a closet door for his Sister in law, and her wife. We've built many things for them in the past, including a full kitchen remodel. This vanity will be a modern, White Oak, 60" unit. Center mounted single sink, and three drawers on each side. If you've ever had to squeeze into a 14" opening to install drawer glides, you will have learned to measure and install them prior to assembling the cabinet. So that's just what we did today. Not too much head scratching, before figuring out the correct placements. Those are the interior dividers. The side pieces were done before these.

  8. As others have reported, a bit of a heat wave here yesterday. What better time to stand in the sun and eat funnel cakes at a county fair (elephant ears were sadly out of stock - damn you West Coast)? In a sign of the times, about half the animals on display as normal due to the bird flu. As a stabilizing influence, every band still knowns Tom Petty. if you’re curious about the disadvantages of using an old lens without modern coatings…

  9. Glad you posted that Jimmy. I've read all of the Dept Q novels by Jussi Adler-Olsen, which are set in Denmark, but it seems they kept the characters and themes the same. Gonna check it out.

  10. If I wasn't certain that I haven't been drunk since I was 16, I'd swear I was shit-faced in that second picture. I've come to terms with having a bald spot, but Foster Brooks has to go!

  12. Sonny Meets Hawk! by Sonny Rollins (1963) https://album.link/s94wfwvvrgh6z Example: Sonny, Hawk. Hawk, Sonny. Nice to meet you. Good colab. They play with themes and sounds back and forth the entire album. With some experimental things going on as well.

  13. Copland: Our Town Suite, The Red Pony Suite & El Salón México by Aaron Copland (1988) https://album.link/kjqzqbb7js4mt Example: Finally getting back to finish off the trio of CBS Masterworks: Copland v Copland... Like the others, just lovely, maybe not the most audiophile of the recordings out there, but super lush and the performance is unquestionably good. I may poke around a little bit more for other recordings, I have a few others in my queue (Bernstein, MTT, Marriner), but I feel that in the future, I will probably just come back to these.

  14. I'm not sure this was ever mentioned (search comes up empty) and it kind of came and went without substantial buzz outside the LGBTQ+ community, but Gentleman Jack (Max),from way back in Covid Daze, is worth a watch. Props for not always going the pleasing route. Criticism for occasionally going the ridiculous direction.

  15. Last night we saw Simple Minds....super show. Really impressed with how strong Jim Kerr's voice still is and how good a shape the gent is in. Modern English was the first act and did a great job. Soft Cell, unfortunately, was a bit of a disappointment. Can't help but wonder if they need a better sound engineer. Overall, great show and nice to run into some old friends. HS

  16. I’ve got my ES2a for a while now. The biggest improvement over the ES1a, in my opinion, is the headband. With the proper clamping force, they don’t fall off my head like the ES1a. So, I ordered the new headband to replace the one on my ES1a. Now my ES1a feels like different headphones. It’s well worth the upgrade. 😄

  17. Hello everybody! Almost finished T2 started in 2022. It was very funny and pleasant build, very interesting. For base I took PCB developed by jamesmking in 2020. For me it was most convenient layout, it is possible to rearrange in case two channels. Plus no absolete elements. In this build changed: * DC offset resistor R64 from 510 to 649Ohm * 2SJ79/2SK216 on TTA004B/TTC004B * FQPF8N80C on STP8NK80Z Some pics Amplifier. TTA004b/TTC004b And PSU More pics here https://cloud.mail.ru/public/mHh6/ktC6SknZ5 Thanks jamesmking, JoaMat and other guys for help in assembling.

  18. Three weeks later, here is the outcome. A single enclosure all-in-one with GRHV and GRLV with high voltage and heater soft-start. The 10M90S is attached to the side wall, and thanks to the large size of the metal, the temp is about 104℉(40 ℃) after 1 hour. The only thing is I made the mistake of the main soft start module(the one on the power outlet), which makes it only functional when you use the back power switch. In this way, I keep the front power switch on all the time to avoid the ripple current. Still have a huge room to be improved. Planning to add a DC power supply for the heater for the DHT version, as well as the flashing soft start indicator.

  19. Okay, two months since my last post -time to dive deeper into the enclosure. I spent the past two weeks designing, ordering materials, and milling all the necessary holes. After breaking two milling bits in the process, here’s the result! The upper panel features over 30 screw holes for the amp boards and power supply. The transformer is planned to be mounted in the center using an M8 bolt, along with an isolated cover. Most of the screw holes are chamfered (using a chamfer milling bit). The square holes are designed for the transformer wires to pass through. The tapping work was manually done. Here’s the hole for the volume pot. The pot can be installed upside down to provide more clearance. I used an end milling bit, which resulted in this textured finish. The side panel will house the 10M90S without heatsinks. The plan is to transfer the heat directly to the enclosure. The enclosure dimensions are 430 x 80 x 330mm with an 8mm thickness. Two XLR input holes. Hole for the EMI AC inlet socket. I’ve realized that I might need a more professional CNC milling machine, but my garage just doesn’t have the space for such a large machine. Milling is really fun and incredibly satisfying.😆 How about going even further next, let`s say a fully CNC block enclosure (I am planning it right now).

  20. Another KGGG alive. I separated the GR power supply and the GG amp into two chassis, making it easy to reuse the GR power supply for the next project. The four holes with the rubber blocker on top of the amp are for balance and offset adjustment. I made a side mount board for the 10M90S instead of using the L bracket. The side mount board is attached if someone is interested in it. It is a 450V version, The tail resistor near the offset pot is 200ohms to track the offset voltages down to 0. To make the servo work, offset voltages must be higher than 15v. The power supply comes with a soft starter of about 50s. I don`t want to talk more about the sound since many comments were mentioned. Pretty decent with my Omega and 009. Thank Kevin Gilmore for bringing the project to the table. SideMountV3.zip

  22. This video is probably exceeds the time and interest of anyone here. I've had it on while working on photos. I have mixed feelings about it. Piers Morgan is an insufferable, pompous jackass and physical evidence that the denizens of my fine state didn't toss quite enough things into the Boston Harbor back in the day. I don't know much about Sean Carroll. Eric is the, uh, less crackpot of the two Weinstein brothers. This is damnation with the faintest of praise. There was a time, maybe 15 years ago where I heard him speak on learning disabilities and thought he was seriously smart. It could be he was, in that moment and on that subject. It's also just as likely that I fell for a grifter. It wouldn't be the first time. In any case, Eric stages a Chernobylesque meltdown here because the "serious" physics community doesn't regard his crackpot theories in the, ahem, gravity he'd like. Sean Carroll is a polite academic type and responds to the full state of Eric's emotional diaper as best he can. Piers, whose job it is to have as much drama as possible on his show, barely manages to contain his smirk while thinking "this is going to get SO many views" to himself. The temper tantrum starts around the 20 minute mark.
