I have to say, the Silca Ultimate Hiro Edition is about the most serious piece of cycling kit I have come across. This thing is overbuilt to the extreme and the packaging that it came in puts several $10k+ pieces of Audio gear packaging to shame. To top it off they do not just send a cheesy little Allen wrench to put it together but instead send one of their overpriced but awesome wrenches. I am reluctant to put this thing in the garage. We’ve got a bit of a discussion on it in the Yggdrasil thread. I think there is a difference, but I’d really like to do a blind test with a gen 2-3 and a gen 5 to really test myself on whether the difference is meaningful. Still, it can’t hurt to do the upgrade.1 point

Thank you ! And perhap the scariest of building T2 is the combination of both, expensive parts and “fakes” sands. I have been trolling around and asked a few other members who finished their T2 on sourcing parts. I was told that 2sc3675 can be found here as well. If anyone look for them http://www.wakamatsu.co.jp/cgi-bin/psearch.cgi?page=0&word=2sc3675 2sc3381 can be found here....and I also have some from Justin as well . Justin had a few orders couple months ago too. BDent also have some but pricy http://www.classicaudioparts.com/index.php/electronic-parts/toshiba-2sc3381bl-transistor.html Classic Audio on left, Justin on the right. Using the cheap Ebay tester has seen authentic to specs so far.1 point

The original was made by Hitachi. Renesas is the good. Not sure of any differences, but I suspect if you are seeing this "readily available" its because fakes are readily available.1 point

No longer shamefully stock. New suspension post, saddle and grips. Much more bum friendly. Rode to gym today — hopefully the start of a virtuous circle!1 point

There is nothing about that article that convinces me that the cloud is not just someone else's computer. Clearly it is bigger than mine, and more redundant. But everybody who makes that "joke" understands that. And contrary to the article, history suggests that scaling things up in size does not increase the attention to detail.1 point

Did the gen 5 upgrade to my Gumby this morning. It took about 30 minutes, start-to-finish. I'll leave it to others to describe any change in sonics, but I figure it can't hurt the eventual re-sale value. EDIT: If anyone wants the prior gen USB board to play around with, PM me and its yours for the price of shipping.1 point

The Specialized Turbo Vado is, as expected, a blast to ride around on errands and makes short work of the (very) steep hill up to my house. Tech and main components seem solid enough but the "afterthought" bits are just horrible for a bike at this price point. Have ordered Ergon grips, a Thudbuster ST post and Brooks saddle to rectify this outrage.1 point

I once dated an exceptionally attractive, tall woman that you could describe precisely like this... Fortunately I married better. HS1 point
