I found out that a washing machine is heavy to move around by yourself. Our washing machine (front loader) sometimes fills up with water for no reason. We keep the door open (so it doesn't get moldy smelling) but the water never filled up past the bottom. We couldn't find the solution online but thought it was a problem with the control board since it would have random beeps like it was turning on when we weren't using it. We bought the replacement part for $150 and installed it ourself. That worked for a while but then we had the same problem. Also, I think the new control board also beeps randomly sometimes but a lot less that the other one did. I had the idea to keep it set on drain/spin since then if it turned on it would presumably just drain. Nope, that didn't work. Today, I was in the kitchen and heard leaking and realized that it had filled up and was leaking out the front of the washing. Luckily there wasn't too much water on the ground. At this point, I have to decide whether to get a new washer and try to get someone out to figure out what is wrong with it and repair it - sigh. The problem is that I don't know if I am going to be able to keep the house and so I am reluctant to get a new washer (I suppose I could move it with me if there is room in the new place). However, I may not know for a really long time what is happening with house. Sigh. For now, I have the water turned to the washer. This is an ok temporary solution but I am worried that if I turn on/off the water too often this is going to lead to me having to get a plumber out to replace the shut off valves. I guess I could also keep the front door to the washer closed and just run bleach through it every once in a while. It sucks to not have Tim here to help make this decision. Any suggestions? The washer is from 2006 so it isn't that new but isn't all that old either.

Can I easily copy some voicemails (that Tim left me) from my iphone to the computer without downloading some software? Nevermind, I found something. http://ios.wonderhowto.com/how-to/free-way-save-iphone-voicemails-your-mac-0157023/

The missing music and crappy search function has kept me away. I was curious if had gotten any better. I was thinking of joining again.

I've been trying to watch Girls (for the third time) and I just can't stand watching the show. It makes me feel old - all the kids in the show drive me crazy. Now I'm trying out Mad Men again.

Hi Steve! Went to Bernie's Burger Bus. I wanted to get this (two applewood smoked bacon grill cheeses used as a bun for two signature beef patties, each topped with cheddar, "tipsy" onions, and all the fixings) but instead I got this (single burger patty with bacon, cheddar, tipsy onions, chipotle aioli and a fried egg). Next time I am going for the double patty with grill cheeses as buns!

Just finished the last episode of Boardwalk Empire. I definitely enjoyed the flashbacks from the last season. I am now ready to get rid of cable (after the Superbowl party on Sunday).

You can use digital output of a iphone, ipod, or ipad with the HA-1 (using the USB connection on the front).

Stay safe everyone.

Excellent news Peter.

I thought that car insurance rarely covered items that were stolen from the car but I could be wrong. Usually renters insurance or homeowners insurance covers that (as others have mention) I believe. Unfortunately sometimes the homeowners insurance deductible can be a lot more than the items (our deductible is several thousand).

Man, that really sucks Peter. So sorry.

^As much as I would like everyone to be at the Super Bowl party, perhaps we should actually plan an HC get together in Houston for a weekend when more people can show up (not such late notice). Also, there will already be 15-20 math friends at the Super Bowl party and I wouldn't want them taking away my time from HC friends. I am serious that it would be great to have HCers down here. I have a couple of guest rooms and could probably borrow a blowup mattress. I agree that a new thread would be better.
