Post the last thing you bought!
Glad you approve! I was waffling between a couple different ones, but I decided to invest a bit more into it. Coming from a porter cable it's a whole different ball game. The smooth bearings that haven't even been broken in, trigger switch, a robust plunge limiter that seems strong enough to prevent wandering (as I've had the misfortune with previously), along with the led lighting all certainly impress on initial inspection. I'm interested in seeing how the constant speed function will effect the mdf routing I do. Any pointers on good router bits? Was thinking of going with fine woodworking's recommendations.

Ipod Touch / Iphone
I think it's possible that Verizon's new phone will be some iteration of a Android 2.0 phone. There's been some previews of it here: Android 2.0 screenshot walkthrough : Boy Genius Report It looks to be quite good.

ipod speakers
Take apart one of the active noise canceler devices, put the mic right next to the speaker, hook up some of your own speakers nearby. Pseudo silence?

Wavelength WaveLink Asynchronous USB to S/PDIF converter.
hah! Should've known they already exist. Nice one Sir Stretch

Wavelength WaveLink Asynchronous USB to S/PDIF converter.
I think that's because the I2S standard was designed as an internal bus spec On the flip side, imagine the horrors of audiophile I2S cables....eek.

Wavelength WaveLink Asynchronous USB to S/PDIF converter.
In the past most products have used a RJ45, though I don't think there's any particular standard on the pinout of the RJ45 outside of each maker. The PS Audio uses a hdmi jack, which would be convenient if others used it, but I have yet to see any other companies use the hdmi.

I haven't heard about that, I'll have to take a look at this lunacy!

New Tech products
The new 5870 seems to be pretty powerful, it mostly matches up with nvidia's dual chip card in performance. Not sure if six monitors would work well though

I must say, for one post that's quite an impressive feat Grahame just posted.

I think a driving or flight sim with numerous monitors should be pretty fun....

QNAP NAS or Upgrade Custom Server?
I'd just hard reboot it and recreate partition/quickformat; but that's just me Btw, have you taken a look at miniSAS connectors? One cable to connect eight drives, it's so convenient though it requires a card and chassis that supports it.

QNAP NAS or Upgrade Custom Server?
I generally like to do a normal format at least once in the lifetime of a drive, but that's mainly due to my own paranoia/habits. For raids it's not really worth the time investment, IMO

Internet Faxing?
It's a service but you can use myfax.com's 30day trial to send it. It's not too cheap but you can use your local Kinko's services to fax it out. Alternately, I have an efax account, if you don't mind I could send it for you.

Did they at least ring the doorbell?

What did you do today?
My shipment of household goods showed up today, so I had fun time arranging everything to fit in my garage nicely. Interesting note: only with the US Government can you ship a crate by plane two weeks before shipping out the rest of the crates by boat....and have the boat shipment delivered before the crate shipped via air.

Bookshelf speakers build
Left them outside in the shade for a few hours, then sanded with 320 grit: Will have to wait till tonight to spray the next coat as it's too hot outside now. I went and picked up a water based poly satin clear made by Varathane. Anyone have any experience with it? I was at Home Depot and I narrowed it down to either this or the Minwax poly spray.

Two coats of sanding sealer on front, one coat on the back: Two coats of primer: Looks glossy black simply because I snapped the picture right after I finished spraying
