Well, if it doesn't work, then science becomes just art!

No crap yet....a tough first game, Caps hung in there for two periods then turned it on some in the third. Still impressed with Holtby, even if not now, he'll be something pretty special methinks given some good coaching. He seems to have MOST of the the angles and the raw talent right now. Rebound control will be big ongoing, but last night the D did a nice job in front of him. Some folks on a hockey board were calling out Wideman last night for that goal; overall, I thought he did pretty well, better than much of what we saw in Boston. We'll see if the next game is one where the Caps pick up off the momentum they had and the good job in game one, or if they give up a little bit. Game 2 will be huge for the series methinks.....

Sure....something alcoholic perhaps? I believe you had the "wear the enemiy's shirt" bet with Guillaume, but I don't hit the games too often if I were to lose. After seeing the first period, and this Holtby kid, he looks pretty sound on the initial shot. Giving up some rebounds, but the Caps defense has been pretty good so far.....

Several surprises....Pens looked unbeatable for a while in that game, then the botched off-sides non-call for the first Flyers goal changed the momentum. I also think it'll be a wild series..... LA beating Vancouver suprised me a bit....without one of the Sedin's, though, the Vancouver chemistry seems to suffer a bit, at least in playoff intensity hockey. And Detroit losing....ripples in the force? Can't say for sure, but it IS certainly an odd event to see them beat in a playoff game by Nashville. Hats off to the Preds.... Looking forward to Bruins/Capitals tonight. Another possible "trap" series, with the Bruins possibly underestimating the Caps and Backstrom in and likely playing his usual great way - I'm worried Semin will feed off of him and get involved.....still think the Bruins will take it, in 5 or 6. I'm just loving that playoff hockey is here again!

Good luck with the on-call. Haven't done that for years either, don't miss it at all (especially since the application I was supporting at that time was designed by a dolt and needed almost nightly attention). Do you get extra $ for being on-call....?

Just don't talk work at home and all will be well.....I used to work with a husband and wife who lived by that rule and it was AMAZINGLY successful. They talked home at work but almost never vice-versa. If that fails, just remind her YOU have seniority

I take it to mean that it will pierce your eardrums and give you a pounding headache.

That Marshall stack pic is great! Seen a lot of shows in my years with equipment bearing that man's name. RIP.....

Got a Starbucks gift card from work as part of a reward, so aside from liquids picked this piece of hipster music up....actually not bad, light slightly jazzy funk fun.

No, Brian was a NH boy for years, including college. Only ever worked in Boston and NH. Your post made me think of Erland Van Lidth, though, who played Grossberger in a Pryor/Wilder film and looked a bit like Brian. http://bavatuesdays....ger-and-dynamo/

Very Happy Birthday!

That is incredible Vicki! Those are the "this is all worth it" moments! I met up with 4 other ex-co-workers, been a while since we got together. Mexican appetizers, 3 margharitas, and TONS of smiles and laughs. When I left the company, 2 weeks shy of 7 years there, I almost wrote on my FB page: "lots of sad goodbyes today, but it was a 280-lb bald man that brought the tears to my eyes." Thought it sounded a little too prison scene though.... If anyone watched old wresting, there was a guy from i think the Southern states named King Kong Bundy; never saw him wrestle, just saw pictures. THAT was basically my friend Brian, the best Data Architect I've ever known.
