I really liked the ECD1 when I owned it, but I've no idea how it compares to the other DAC's listed (it's also been ages since I've owned it). FYI, ECD1 can be had used for ~$1200 (or less sometimes) often on Audiogon.

Another plus for PS3, at least for me, is that it can play Japanese PS3 games as well as US PS3 games due to the BluRay region code.

At least I used to own a pair. I sold the Stax rig back then to finance couple of things that ultimately didn't work out in the end. I regret selling the rig, but hindsight is 20/20.

I apologize if this has been covered recently, but what is the going rate for 717 now-a-days? As much as I've been enjoying my dynamic rig, I really miss OII's. As such, I'm seriously contemplating selling my dynamic rig (recabled K1000, RS-1, and Beta22) to finance OII's again and I figure I'd grab 717 until I can save up enough for a better amp.

Really? I may have to give it a go on my MacBook then, as voiding warranty was why I hadn't upgrade the hard drive.

I do most of my "reading" in my car through audiobooks during my commute. One side benefit of having to commute for about 2 hours every day.

It's been almost a decade since I was in Japan. I really should go back but the flights to Japan are so friggin' expensive. Of course, if I'm going to Japan, I won't be doing much headphone/audio related things as I'd rather be visiting my extended family.
