You can do that without it looking busy, but you need to use variations on one or two colors. In your case maybe a charcoal gray wall, that relates to the Black, and a darker Brown, in the same tone as the Mushroom. Even then care needs to be taken to not get too busy.

Ditto on the Brown or Mushroom, and it definitely relates to the ottoman. I don't like the Gray as much as I thought I would. The Green is also nice, but I'd introduce it elsewhere (pillow etc...) if you use it.

I miss all the bike trails in Anchorage. Literally hundreds of miles of bike trails in the Anchorage area. There are none in South Texas.

Love the Black Justin. I think painting the kitchen cabinet wall a light Gray might set it off even better, or a lighter hue of that ottoman. Also love the industrial bar stools. Wayne, back in the day I had my hair every color and style imaginable, as my good friend was a renowned stylist in town. Also I got very into forward fashion ATT, think Claude Montana & Thierry Mugler. A hoop earring in each ear added to the overall statement. So I received comments like those you received all the time. I'd usually reply something like "Hey sweetie, isn't gaydar great, so guys like you and I can recognize each other." I admit that at times it did hurt, but like anything, you grow immune after a while. Of coarse I WAS gay. It must be a whole new feeling to hear that and be straight. BTW, your Niece is adorable!

I remember how nice those relatively balmy days in the middle of winter can be, though in Anchorage 50 degrees would be unheard of this time of year.

I think nothing of an 8 hour drive. I guess that's from living in Alaska so long. Checking the mail at the end of the driveway could be a half day trip.
