At eye level, you say? Either your partner does not know where your mouth is, or you are a kinky fucker.

Happy birthday, guys

I have always hated introduction posts, but I am a dick... so there's that. At least you do not have to look me in the eyes... cause I'm a dick. Get it? Fuck I'm funny.

Well shit! If it comes with an audiophile grade USB cable, I'm sold. Fuck my DAC1! Anyone want it?

I cannot think of a more natural disaster prone country than the Philippines. Holy cow, they get more than their fair share dumped on them.

This one will go down in the record books definitely. It is most certainly the most intense tropical cyclone in terms of wind speed EVER recorded due to its estimated 200 MPH SUSTAINED winds. It made landfall in the central portion of the Philippines as it was intensifying to this horrific intensity. That makes this a shoe in for the most intense landfalling tropical cyclone in recorded history. The storm surge because of this and due to topography will be unreal. There have been a few cyclones in the Pacific resembling Haiyan before, but I do no think anything has made landfall ever like this. The news will be horrific, unfortunately. Thread Link: http://www.talkweather.com/forums/index.php?/topic/59729-supertyphoon-haiyan/ and http://forums.accuweather.com/index.php?showtopic=31160 Area of Landfall: https://www.google.com/maps/preview?hl=en#!data=!1m4!1m3!1d1195602!2d125.7976003!3d10.7033997!2m1!1e3&fid=7 Structure does not get better than this Landfall Unbelievable...

Another excerpt from the new Kauan album, Pirut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=LRRfy9Y1iho Ahhh, good stuff. Going to be a really good album. Love this band.

I don't think you'll have trouble finding it. I know it sounds hyperbolic, but at no point during this album do I ever think "So and so could do this better..." It continues to amaze.

The popular culture pushed by pervasive entertainment norms drone on that opinions are just as important as fact. People are more concerned with being heard than being objectively correct, because shooting from the hip is easier and more fun than due diligence. -
Yeah, I know this has been done to death on other sites, so hear me out. I could care less about the Hoffman forum diatribes of musical greatness and shit like that. I frequently read the "What Are You Listening To" thread here and many other threads to see what's out there and get a feel for what many of you truly love in music. If nothing else, we get a good sense of where you are coming from musically. I figure a top five list would underscore that, and, hopefully, people find some new music to listen to. What do my favorite albums have in common? Melody, energy, dynamics, and catchy as hell riffs/choruses/solos. I have to have something to hum in my head at all times. Why do you think I like Grados so much? 1. Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse My favorite album for a long time. It is the perfect combination of melody vs. bombast. The songs flow so well with so many memorable guitar pieces. This is my island album. 2. Opeth - Still Life My second favorite album for a long time for the same reasons as MAYH. These two albums are my favorite Opeth period. 3. Poema Arcanus - Iconoclast A recent addiction. There are so many pieces from this album that sound unlike all other bands I have heard before. Everything here, from the song structure to the vocal delivery, is simply captivating. 4. Riverside - Out Of Myself I will never hear another progressive rock album I like better. Ever. The guitar tone is just so perfect. 5. Moonsorrow - Verisäkeet Like the other four albums, there are so many parts of this album that are so memorable for me. The buildup and ending of Karhunkynsi, the chorus of Jotunheim, and the energy of Pimeä are so fun to listen to.

Yep, still listening to Wild Card from ReVamp. This album simply puts pretty much every single other female fronted metal album to shame... including most of After Forever. I am dead serious; she is that good. Paging Dusty, paging Dusty... I am pretty sure this is right up your ally. Give it a shot! As long as I am talking about Dusty... thanks a million for the heads up on the Bruce Soord & Jonas Renkse album "Wisdom of Crowds". I have been playing that a lot. Amazing album.

Arnaud, I think you have this place a bit wrong. I'll sum it up succinctly (since it is beating a dead horse a bit): the regulars here are some of the nicest, most generous, and knowledgeable people you'll find on an audio forum. The one quirk (in my eyes a strength) is that they do not put up with crap at all. Once you get used to that, you'll see that your critique is off. Yes, it is not updated with the latest greatest like HF, but it is not that kind of place, so there is less talk of audio gear and more talk of just about everything else. Since you post of a lack of innovation, I'd say what's the need to talk about the same rehash, eh? As for your last sentence, I see it as an "either or" scenario: either Alex is completely oblivious to the flaws in his design (his long post here a while ago points to the contrary), or he is so stubborn/conceded that he will sell what he wants, objective naysaying be damned. Either way, what he is doing is detrimental and needs to be called out. I do not feel sorry for him in the slightest, since ignorance and/or arrogance should never mix with business. You are right on the money regarding the consumers. As long as gullible people buy shit, others will continue to peddle shit. That's where people like Birgir are doing the community a service. -

Nope, you nailed it. Life is too short to be polite to those who prey on the ignorant (or those who are sycophants of said predators). Like in just about everything in life, most people are really followers and will follow those who are the most passionate, sold themselves the best, or are the best at marketing (or who have the most militant shills). The goal is have the masses buy into the right people - those who are honest, are making high quality and well engineered products, and are in it for the betterment of the hobby. Those who are the antithesis of those traits should be taken down any legal way possible. -

Are we keeping oldies around for giggles? Or did his insignificance allow him to fall off of the shovel's radar? His presence brings a certain "I have no idea what the fuck I am talking about, because I am a Cavalli shill/whore" flavor to this place. Both entertaining and pathetic. -

You bring up an interesting point, but I have a question: even if there was a really good way to assign a quantifiable "influence" of a poster, would that really be an indicator of whether the person knew what they were talking about? There are some pretty influential shills over there. As far as a rep system is concerned, I think it works well for places like slickdeals and such; however, for a place like Head-Fi, the cliques would just rep and upvote each other into oblivion because they have more free time than normal and/or knowledgeable people. Finally, and perhaps most obvious, it would be hard to build up a good influence or reputation if all the intellectual or revealing (spritzer exposing shoddy work et all) posts are either deleted or buried with rhetoric and puffery. It's damn near impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff for the average person just wanting honest advice with what goes on over there. -

You are more than welcome to like him, but you cannot separate him and the others. It's his site and his rules. When those people you cannot stand are allowed to run wild on his site (not to mention the pervasive nepotism), he is just as responsible. Think of all the shillery and vendors who are just full of shit. He could kick them faster than they could spell snake oil, but he does not. I understand that idiots are gullible and are prone to marketing, but he's aiding that practice by allowing it to happen on his site. He has done a lot to help the hobby, but he has also done a lot to hurt the hobby at least indirectly. -

This site is everything that Head-Fi should have been. There is a lot to be said about culling the heard on forums by strictly adhering to a set of principles from the get go. Anyone not willing to follow the culture is run off. That's why this place is still great years later and Head-Fi is a bag of shit. Then again, one could make the argument that Head-Fi is still following it's original principles: build the base and cash in. Either way, it's still shit. Jude deletes posts about this place because he is an insecure shithead. Edit: I like to say shit today. -

New Kauan album on the way. It is one song. Forty minutes. Here's five: http://www.invisibleoranges.com/2013/10/song-debut-kauan-lightfox/ Hard to judge based off of this, but it is a return to the more doom style from their earlier albums. I cannot get enough of this band.
