  1. Happy belate biggie! Hope 36 is starting off great
  2. Gilliab Welch Harrow and the Harvest on vinyl. Not really into the whole folk/minimal thing but got this on recommendation and it’s fantastic. Sound quality is exquisite - Gillian essentially started up her on label specifically to cut and master the lacquer directly from the analog tape to her specifications, it’s incredible.
  3. Could also be that the ghost is born is legit great sound quality. Pallas pressed and Kevin Gray cut, the thing has screaming dynamics. My YHF is whatever digitally sourced reissue from a few years ago
  4. Wilco - Ghost is Born what a great album, dare I say I prefer it over yankee hotel foxtrot
  5. ordered both loveless and isn’t anything vinyl bundle from the bands website direct, these are the recent AAA all analog transfers from the master tapes.
  6. Ah, cozymels, the big place right off of butterfield, yeah we’ve been there before lol. It’s a nice affordable Mexican place with ambiance. I prefer the holes in the wall, we’ve got one right by the house here I’ll take you to next time your in the area and loaning me gear lol.
  7. What was the Mexican place in wheaton? I could have swore I hit them all up in our area
  8. Hope you had a great one!
  9. What a disaster lol. But apparently the Japanese company is still selling them at 15k a pop!
  10. Yah. I mean it makes absolutely no sense. Maybe you get the noise floor a little bit lower? And maybe I guess you technically can squeeze in a little more dynamic range? For whatever those gains are, I think the fidelity loss due to all the extraneous conversions is totally not worth it. With that said, digitally sourced vinyl can sound good, such as when they use a hi-res digital copy of the original analog tape and use that copy for the stamper, but the whole HD vinyl thing is wacky to say the least.
  11. Really. Read about it at axpona. The weird thing is you have to convert the original recording source to digital, which then gets converted into some kind of 3D topographic map which then feeds the laser based cutter which then makes the stamper ill take my non HD AAA sourced vinyl just fine.
  12. You got it. I’m pretty happy with my vinyl rig, the 1200GR with ortofon 2m blue is a nice match. I like my Hagerman but I would say it’s probably the limiting part in my rig and I would be curious what the next level in phono stage has to offer.
  13. Let me know your thoughts on the sound once you’ve had a chance to break it in a bit. Or feel free to bring it over here for a beer and listen to some vinyl at my place
  14. The 103 has been such a centerpiece for everything in my rig audio visual. I give oppo much respect and wish them the best in future endeavors.
  15. Happy birthday! Hope you weren't too busy soldering
  16. Dungen - ta det lugnt 2016 vinyl repress. All analog pressing! Sounds killer. Bought the CD when it first came out and while the music was great the sound was pretty compressed (vinyl was cut from CD master). This repress is super punchy and dynamic without being harsh.
  17. Don’t forget the phono stage you were planning on too
  18. After looking online at all sorts of random devices/gadgets, from Jensen isolating transformers ($200) to $80 power plug hum eliminators (little devices that plug at the outlet that have diodes in between the wall and plug grounds), I figured it prudent to see if just plugging the turntable through an extension into the zerosurge that has the whole rest of the system plugged into it would eliminate the ground loop. Yup it did! lol. I used a generic power strip to check so I just ordered a standard extension cord (14awg 15a, matched the supplied power cord with the technics) for a few bucks. I'm sure I can probably just order a longer power cord to replace the whole darn thing as well. I guess sometimes it's the simplest solution that is the most ideal.
  19. Not conclusive. Hum still present, but it appears it's lower in level? That could be my brain doing tricks on me, as I also noticed the hum level appears to change in the previous orientation (sometimes louder, sometimes softer). I can also confirm that it's 60 hz hum - I have a strobosoft tuner and just put right next to the speaker woofer; and it shows up as the pitch B 60 hz.
  20. Do you mean plug in the 2 prong phono cord in the other direction with the 3 prong turntable power cord and see if it changes?
