Listening Chairs

Featured Replies

Hi!

id love for anyone to share pics and recs of some quality listening chairs. I’ve been using an old wood rocker which actually isnt too bad, but it’s a bit of a family heirloom piece and I should get my ass out of it. As I’ve been looking, the search has been harder than I thought - I’m looking for an armchair but most I’ve found are so bulky they would just dominate the room. Many nice chairs seem to be made for dining table sets or kitchen tables which look odd.

I would say I like the mid century style the most but know those can get pricey. Something classy but not bulky, definitely wanting something on the sleeker side but hopefully still comfy. My listening room isn’t huge (maybe 20 deer across the long way), and it shares with the fireplace, two couches on adjacent walls, as well as the TV, space is somewhat at a premium.

I am not really a fan of Crate & Barrel, but I think they got this chair just right. It is not too expensive, and it is very comfortable. Compared to other Z Chair knockoffs, the proportions are good. Short of finding something actually from the middle of last century, that would be my go to.

That’s a nice looking and comfy chair man, sweet. Never really gave the z chair style a second look but that crate and barrel one has my interest piqued.

Friends are giving me a quality Eames lounger and ottoman pair as an apartment warming gift.  I'll let you know how it works out.  It's from the 80s, but looks similar to a lot of what is currently made.

Can vouch for the excellence of the Eames + Ottoman. Own a couple. Are the absolute shiznit.

I prefer the vintage Eames lounge chair & ottoman (pre 1971) compared to the current production because the early ones used down filled cushions instead of foam & fiber.

Do you have back problems?  Here at 215 pounds, my lumbar still screams, looking at that.

I feel like if anyone is going to get the most out of the Wicket chair it's Dr. Wood.

Nope, back as of now is good. But you make a great point, I should try it out first for sure.

Yup, that doesn't seem particularly comfy with no armrests, plus the angle and height can be a back crusher.

it was cheap enoughand actually passed the WAF! Very comfy, and very non-ikea looking. Has a slight rock to it too which I like.

Can't go wrong with Poang.  :)  I had one for 20 years and now it is at my inlaws...

I see the rug is also Ikea.  ;)
