    Stop bitching

It's real simple, that thread was locked because we do not want headcase to turn into a place that is used soley for the purpose of bitching about head-fi and its members. That thread was leading heacase down that path and I won't let it happen. Also you may have noticed an increase in the number of informative threads since that thread was locked. Coincidence? I don't think so.
  2. Yeah the L3000 do rule
  3. Pretty sure it's KG's all tube electrostat amp that you can see on headwize.
  4. For #1 and #2 on your list you'd be hard pressed to beat the Green Mountain Audio Europa in the $1k price range.
  5. How about the AT-AD2000? I'm told they share some sonic traits of the L3000.
  6. Earl, you could always sell off a few amps and buy a pair of L3000
  7. There's actually an A5 integrated and A308 integrated on audiogon right now. I might check those out.

    Great Audio Buys

Not exactly budget items but here goes... 1) L3000 - I get more joy out of this headphone than I do any other gear that I own 2) APL Philips SACD1000 - I had owned a number of sources prior to getting this player, even a couple in the $1k-$2k price range. None of them were even remotely close to being as musical as the APL SACD1000 is. Even now with my modded Opus 21 being an overall better player the SACD1000 still portrays female vocals with a sense of realism that I haven't heard anywhere else.
  9. Haha yeah the rotel has a healthy amount of power and it usually goes for $1000-$1500 on audiogon so it's priced right. Thanks for the recomendations of the MF gear I'll keep an eye out for them used.
  10. I'm in the market for a new power amp, preferrably something with 300+ Watts into 4ohm. I've been considering picking up a used Rotel RB-1090 it would certainly fit the bill powerwise. But I keep seeing all the various "Class D" type amps and their size and weight make them intruiging options. Out of the Class D amps the ones that caught my interest the most are ones based on the ICE Power modules (think the new belcanto amps) and the Hypex UCD Modules (think CIAudio amps). Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.
  11. I think Thaddy is on to something here, after being around for a little while it's pretty easy to pick out a few people whose tastes in gear and music seem to be inline with mine. So for me the opinions of those people are valid.
  12. This might be of some help: http://home.att.net/~chimeraone/6sl7sound.html
  13. If it does come to that you better make a video of it
  14. If you really don't use it that much and could put the money to better use elsewhere then I say yes sell it all.
  15. If this were a car the Lemon Law would be in full effect.
  16. That's not saying all that much
  17. It'll be interesting to see how you think it compares to your E5. The denon has better dacs than the E5, but the switching PS in the denon is absolutely garbage. Hopefully the blackgates can clean it up some for you.
  18. The Woo 3 is not an amp I'd recommend for low impedance phones like your AT's are. I think you'd be better off with a MAD Ear+ or something along those lines.

    New Toy

The cups on your 325's are much deeper than the ones on my SR-200's. Probably 2 or 3 times as deep. Oh and the headband on the SR-200's is much closer to the the current prestige series headband in terms of width. I think material quality is better though.

    New Toy

Well my new woody SR-200's arrived today (thanks again Juan). So far I'm pleasantly surprised, they have a pretty warm sonic signature and have much more bass than I was expecting. Here's a few pics (note these do not have hp1000 drivers):
  22. Those look very nice good work!
