Made an appointment for impressions; worked; ate dinner with the Little Monkey; Replaced a 512MB chip with a 1GB in my iMac, bringing it up to 2GB total--the max for this iMac.

As the third owner of my set, I hear you. In looking at the Order Confirmation, I note that AT "replaced both joint cases." Only one was broken, so it strikes me that maybe this was a known issue repair. I was charged nothing, and the Service Performed section indicates "Non-Warranty." You can send them in for an estimate, which costs 30 bucks. If you go ahead with the repairs, then you don't pay the $30. Anyway, the treated me right, so I'm going to send a nice email.

deepak, out of the Woo amps, what did you think were the weaknesses?

Yeah, I'll give it a try. I want to start DIYing again and I always feel good if I can fix something myself. Expect some PMs.

Is it possible the cable is the culprit?

The hum issue is interesting. I tried my UE5c out of my B22 (which Nate knows rather well) and got some serious hum, but not hiss, although that could be due to the hum volume. It sounded almost like a ground loop hum (I don't think that's it, just describing the sound). The amp is dead silent with all other headphones.

Good find. Congrats. Some of the best pairings I have heard with the CD3000 have been with the Woo Audio amps. Not sure if the WA3+ or WA6 satisfy the "budget" criterion for you, but I've liked the CD3000 out of the amps every time I've heard them.
