  1. Dylan at the Beacon in Manhattan in early 90's. Dave Matthew's Band encore in the monsoon at Giants Stadium.
  2. Southpacific
  3. Can someone explain to the smaller brained of us how to read these graphs?
  4. That does look awesome. Probably a good time to sell the SB3...
  5. I didn't say it was practical. But yes, it's an expensive remote, but it does begin to solve my issues with the Squeezebox interface. EDIT: I *think* the Touch can also be used as a remote.
  6. Now that the iPhone can be used to control iTunes, a setup of iPhone + Airtunes + DAC + Amp is looking kinda interesting.
  7. What is Lala? The site is kind of uninformative.
  8. Yeah, so far Spun is looking good. Amazon is a bit of a pain. But Spun seems to be more demanding in terms of CD condition. Also, I wish Spun would let you add by ISBN. Edit: Oops, found the UPC option under bulk sales.
  9. Is there an easy-to-use, reputable service/store to sell CDs to over the internets? I am looking for something that makes the process very simple, which is why I am not currently contemplating the forums. I welcome your suggestions.
  10. I fell for it. The hype machine did a number on me and I bought one. I remember being amazed by how small it was. I also was very much into portables at the time. So I think I was basically listening to the form factor. But after balancing my cans and spending time with some much better (albeit bigger) amps, the Tomahawk sat in a drawer. I sold it a few weeks ago for my initial purchase price. To me, the bottom line is that Ray hypes his gear very well, and the fanboys (of which I guess I was at least a partial one) fan the flames to inferno level. I think the main lessons I learned from that purchase are to actually do some due diligence about the circuit, go to more meets, and only read reviews by ears I trust.
  11. If one believes in burn in, isn't the only proper way to validate such performance differences is to conduct a controlled comparison between the burnt in model and a brand new one--thereby at least attempting to control for the psychoacoustic effects?
  12. ugh. Just what I needed. Those fuckers appear to have addressed my interface concerns and now I'll just have to buy the damn thing. EDIT: I'm still wondering why Apple hasn't introduced one of these.
  13. I have an iPhone. I have no need for it. I love it.
  14. Expecting some additions to this thread today...
  15. Missed this, happy belated.
  16. Happy New Year to all. Here's to sitting on the couch all day.
  17. I hate The Who. Blecchh.
  18. Reporting for duty. Picking up on milkpowder's recent thread (http://www.head-case.org/drink/got_wasted-t2796.0.html). Saw a bunch of good friends last night. A great time. Went out to dinner, then on to a nice bar for a nightcap(s). There was wine, champagne. The martini to start the night was probably a bad idea. I'm a lightweight these days, so there is much pain this morning. And my 19 month old--while precious--does not understand "daddy has a headache." Let the rehydration begin...
  19. Yeah, I've read that and heard it somewhat under meet conditions. I enjoyed the RS-2, but listened a while ago, so another audition is necessary as suggested. Still interested in opinions, though.
  20. Every meet I attend, I ooh and ahh about the Orpheus for a bit, but then I sit down with the Stax stuff and I realize that's what I really want.
  21. I like my HF-1. Running balanced has given them some additional smoothness and horizontal extension. But I'm not in love with them. What do you folks think about the move to the RS-2 or RS-1? Would you consider those a significant step up?
  22. There are several, but this one seems to get decent reviews: http://www.beermonthclub.com.
  23. Give us some examples of his metadouchebagery.
