Yeah, I guess I forget the fact that it's amazing it can pull off low light in the first place. The last p&s I had from years ago was useless unless outside.

Stunning, Jeff. Really nice stuff. Guys, are there some "basic" shots I can take with the S95 and post to see if we can agree that it's all good. Are there some standard/reference(y) things/conditions I can shoot that will help determine if there are any issues? I'm worried about what I perceive as some softness in the images, but I also have been in some low light situations.

Apple charges a lot for those preinstalled ssd's.

Greg, I like it quite a bit actually. It was a gift from a former colleague of mine, now a partner trying to get business (and also a great guy). It has a certain amount of heat to it and lots of fruit. I like. The champagne was standard Veuve yellow label, I believe. I am happy to guzzle that down at events. Enjoy that Kistler, I love the Hyde and it should be good drinking now, right?. So much better to catch it on the way up than on the way down. Maybe one more year. How do you like it?

Thanks all. I'll post a couple more. Just want to make sure poor shots are due to my ineptitude rather the camera.

I could use some help/advice from you guys. Here's a snap I took of the Little Monkey this morning with the S95. I'm the first to admit that I'm a lousy photographer, but this image seems really soft/"veiled" to me. It was taken on "Auto" setting with flash off. I've been noticing this softness with a lot of my initial S95 shots. Is this just user stuff that I need to learn/set, or is there some indication here of something wrong with the camera?

Last night I attended the retirement party thrown for my Dad by his law firm. Very nicely done with a bunch of his close friends and a lot of colleagues and clients going way back. It's always interesting to me to see the "work" side of my father because he was always pretty good about keeping that somewhat separate from home life (which I have later learned was quite a feat through my own experience). It was a bittersweet event because I know he will miss practicing law regularly. But I am also very proud of and humbled by his many accomplishments and I am very pleased that he gets to kick back and relax a bit now. I'm planning to bring him to a NY Meet again because my mother will kill him quickly unless we get him a few more hobbies.

Sunday's a little tricky, but I bet the little monkey would love to see the, um, other monkeys. I need to get a spare battery for my S95. Trying to find an OEM one on Amazon is not easy. Is there a reliable third party brand that I should check out?
