What to do where to go?
If I had to settle anywhere it would be suburbs of Dallas or Orange County (CA). My problem wouldn't be the mass folk, instead the traffic on 93/495 that would make me want to kill myself. And for NH I think Salem is much nicer than Nashua. Then you're really on the border

Post the last thing you bought!
Both tube amp books by Morgan Jones ("Valve Amplifiers" and "Building Valve Amplifiers") from amazon. Not that I'll have much free time to really dive in the near future

I was thinking about getting four BlacX with four 1 TB Seagates. Since my music collection is no where near 2 TB, I would just be mirroring the data to the other drives rather than dealing with RAID.

Are you still able to fit all your music on a 2 TB drive

So the Drobo is pretty nice? It would come in handy with the Squeezebox since Windows would recognize the Drobo as one drive, rather than the multiple paths I have right now...

What did you do today?
The Gigabyte EP35-DS3L and EP45-DS3L motherboards seem to be universally praised everywhere. I'm going with the EP45 for my build. Yeah they made some great Athlon XP motherboards. Their nforce chipset boards were terrific, my 8RDA allowed me to get an insane overclock on a mobile AXP.

Benefit of LOMC vs HOMC?
http://www.head-case.org/forums/home-source-components/3070-zyx-bloom-best-bargain-mc-under-5-000-a.html I'd love to hear a Bloom and the 20X

Deus Ex
I decided to take another crack at the problems I was having and Google figured out the problem. The game messes up on a laptop that has a CPU running at variable speeds (save battery) and the game goes into "turbo mode" The fix is adding -CPUSPEED=#### to the shortcut's program location where #### is the actual speed of your laptop processor ie C:\DeusEx\System\DeusEx.exe -CPUSPEED=1800 So I'm now playing Deus Ex again, finished the first level just now

Playboy's Gadget or the Girl
Damn I really hate that blog software that screws up royally with FF and adblock. Not really being into gadgets, free sex for sure.

Working on a new panel... what do you think?
Looks good. Just my personal preference, but I'd make the Japanese text straight instead of at an angle.

Benefit of LOMC vs HOMC?
Ones that don't rely on the extra gain stage of a preamp? ie I could still run my own preamp? Can you post some examples what you'd consider really good?

Benefit of LOMC vs HOMC?
I really appreciate the incite. I think I can be happy enough with the Pearl and a HOMC (or Pearl/Cinemag SUT/DL-103) at least with my entry level vinyl setup until I move onto a better table. There are no LOMC capable all tube phono-stages?

Benefit of LOMC vs HOMC?
Just curious what the real benefits are of running a low output MC cart vs a high output MC? For example my next phono will be best suited for medium to high output carts unless I used step up transformers. To use an example with the Dynavector 20X. Is there any benefit to getting the .3 mV with SUTs vs the 2.8 mV without any transformer in the signal path? Quirky enough I know I've read that some people prefer the high end SUTs (OOP S&B silver transformers) with normal phono-stages... Just looking to maybe learn a thing or two

Guillaume just curious, are you looking to buy a Stax pro transformer box to use with the Koss or is it for a different setup?

Watched the Gumball 3000 movie with a friend. A fellow petrolhead (he just bought a 2003 360 Spyder on a surgery residents salary ); his jaw hit the floor afterwards

Yeah I do. I think I'll be selling them in a couple of months, I use the SR-007 almost all the time.

The Headcase Stax thread
Would you be DIY'ing the touch screen remote? I read in Home Theater magazine that they did that for one of the NFL players (Jerry Rice I believe) and there was about 13000 lines of code for the touchscreen remote that controlled his HT/music setup :o

Nice Koss just replaces the entire thing if you send them in for repair

The Orthodynamic Thread
Darn all the pictures in the first post are missing. Birgir if you still have them I can add them to the first post. Otherwise hopefully Todd saved them before the forum software switch.

The Headcase Stax thread
You should give the Squeezebox 3 a shot. Very little that can go wrong with one of them. Really good transport as well. I'd like to see a color screen and album art in a future version.

The Headcase Stax thread
Cool I shouldn't have let the Bitstream I told you about slip through my fingers But given the age of these DACs the electrolytic caps would need to be replaced anyway? I'm still really curious how the Museatex stuff measures.
