1. bold words: WTF does this mean? i don't know the story. i've owned my DAC1 for a few years now, and while i prefer my y2 for sonics, i think the DAC1 is an excellent performer and offers a lot for very little $$$ when partnered with sympathetic gears (read: warm/dark/juicy). edit: forget it, big brain fart re: Tyll
2. it's like...doped sand. she say silly-sand and i say silicon.
3. in my day we would call these "rad": http://www.wearefrends.com/ i'm guessing you're going to get the to pile on the avalanche you got yourself into for jibbing in uncharted back-country pow.
4. any specifics on the F5 build? what speakers? i think the F5 has much better groove and dynamics compared to the LM3875 Gainclone driving FR Fostex. nice re-build spritzer!
5. well, at least you could use the box for an amp chassis.
6. i would only change the gain if you're having noise issues. i have a very faint white-noise at gain of x8 with my less efficient K702 but zilch noise for my K240DF. unlike your B22, my B22 is not totally shielded in aluminum, with walnut wrap around chassis. the noise issues with a B22 are real - the B22 amplifies everything.
7. i assumed they were all log pots as they were intended for "hi-fi use". linear pots are less common.
8. i've never had an issue with my K702/K271/K240DF by only turning down the volume and pulling out with my Switchcraft TRS jacks. i prefer Switchcraft plugs as well. Neutriks i've used are a bit more "soft" and "smooth" wrt to insertion/removal. the gain shouldn't make the B22 more "puffable" or not - it's a current draw issue with shorting the outputs. btw, a Black Beauty alone is near worth 1/2 the cost of the amp. i have again of x8. with my 600ohm K240DF i can hit 3'oclock easily, but i listen at 80-85dB.
9. how about a 3-channel B22 . or can i become the resident F5 fanboi and recommend the F5 for HPs and FR speakers? throw me a bone, i've not heard the JH13 that everyone is "raving" about.
10. i hope Spritzer is making some dough (not bread) off his consultation fees. the Italians love to argue, so i'm sure Spritzer+Rudi=LOVE.
11. i actually owned and liked the PL2500 with a $300 cable...until i heard something as basic as a pair of K271. the S-Logic is nice...but only really noticeable with their cooked-up test CD.
12. i think a matching Rudi amp would be super too.
13. if i ruled the universe, all "delicately treated" woods would be finished in tung-oil. i prefer poly on my floors and marine spar varnish on my not-so-domesticated rough-n-tough snow-shoes though.
14. the DGs in my collection have a fairly dry, chalky house sound.
15. is there a minimum post count before one can hand out an , and what are the rules governing it's appropriate usage?

17. i'm gonna dubstep all over your little bitch asses.
18. i placed a foley catheter in my 86 yr old patient and he was dead within minutes. i'm assuming i stimulated the vagus nerve. all in all, not a great day.
19. i.e. watch the angle of your dangle.
20. instead of pissing all my money before kids on a Naim rig (now sold except speakers), i wish i would have just bought the K1000 and got into DIYing earlier.
21. i've read about the Pioneer in the past. it seems pretty popular. right now i just want to build a sub to reinforce the uFonken^2 to help get the trousers flapping for Dub, but otherwise the bass and dynamics are pretty amazing for such a small cab. i wired in a sub-out in the B1 so i can get my jangy on in the man-cave. i can remember when i first hooked up the Krell to the FF85K, it was one of those rare "wow" hi-fi experiences. the K1000 was another memorable one. i think a sub would be nice for the K1000 too and the ultimate in headphone geekdom.
22. i've only heard the K1000 at a meet many years ago. i'm planning on adding a 4-pin XLR to the re-chassis for shits and giggles though. unfortunately, i have a hard time justifying any more large hi-fi purchases for awhile with a 6 mo. and 3 yr old, new car, travel, booze, hookers, blah blah blah.
23. wow, those look great! i like the FF85K a lot, actually the only FR driver i've played with, but i have a pair of uFonkens in the Fireplace-Fi and a pair of uFonken^2 down in the man-cave.
