  1. Down the NAD line a bit I came real close to buying the NAD C 390DD. Unfortunately video was a priority and the two HDMI ports you can add on just weren't enough for my purposes. This is how I ended up with the Emotiva XMC-1 and XPA-2. Regardless I find the all digital design of the C 390DD really intriguing. Looking at the Parasound Integrated, I like that it has USB and an MM/MC phono, and has already been mentioned bass management is a great thing to have for sub users. Looks like it has enough powah to push any speaker ta boot. Cool piece of gear there, you should be it Ric.
  2. If I recall correctly its some guys from Platinum that started Nakaya. Pretty much the same nibs.
  3. Was reading the previous posts and catching up on this thread. Was kind of hoping you were about to blame your broken dishwasher on gay marriage.
  4. I was about to make an age argument but googled first because I'm internet savvy and Iggy Pop is 68 years old. Christ. Neil Young just a year older at 69. Unfortunately I haven't seen Iggy live in any capacity but I have no doubt he is a monster on stage.
  5. and he still puts on a kick ass show. still the best old white guy rocker live, aside from Paul McCartney.
  6. The past couple of years I've slowly been drifting into the "all DACs pretty much sound the same" camp, which is terrifying because I used to firmly believe I was hearing differences between DACs.
  7. That is what I am talking about, I need this! The problem with compressed air is the can gets cold so quickly, looks like it won't be a problem with the data vac. I've added it to my amazon wish list. I'm thinking I'll order this and use it instead of the alcohol, but I'll hold on to the alcohol for any items which are just too filthy. Basically I'm trying to resist the urge the build a new PC since I really don't need one. So instead it would feel good to have a PC that looks like new. This is another option. I have some matches. I could drill some holes in my case and drop lit matches in. Thats fucking awesome. Oh yeah I'm nowhere near that bad, but I do have some caked on dust that needs to be obliterated.
  8. Hey folks- So with CPA exam and busy season behind me, I'm finally starting to re-evaluate on what is important: having a kick ass PC to play games on. My current PC is actually pretty great. Surprised to find my i5-3570 CPU I purchased in 2012 is still completely acceptable for gaming. I did upgrade my graphics card to a GTX 980, which is awesome. So I don't see the need for any additional upgrades. What I'd like to do now is thoroughly clean the outside and inside of my PC case. My NZXT is one of those silent cases, and it does a pretty good job of keeping dust out, but nothings perfect, and I'm basically done zero cleaning the past three years. I tried some compressed air a couple months ago and it helped, but there is unfortunately dust caked on certain items, notably the fans. I'd like to get all this dust scrubbed off. So after a little light googling on the subject I purchased the following: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047YB3OW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013HT2QW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01 It's 99.9% isopropyl alcohol cleaner and some fancy lint free wipes. I'm thinking this will be a safe way to clean my fans, cables, and maybe even motherboard/power supply/etc., so long as I am 100% everything is dry before I boot it up. What do y'all think? Am I smart?
  9. Every Sailor I owned was glassy smooth. So smooth that I'd actually prefer a bit of feedback. Something is definitely amiss with yours. As far as Asian nibs go for me you can't beat the feel of a Nakaya. The perfect balance of smoothness/feedback.
  10. I'm ignoring your criteria, but I recently got a Play1 Sonos speaker for the bedroom, and I'm really impressed with the Sonos software. My library, Google play music, tidal, and SiriusXM all right there in the Sonos app. Definitely getting a Sonos Connect for the big rig soon. So yeah it streams from your computer but it's so freaking easy to use.

    Sirius XM?

That's really good to know, I didn't know there was an sq setting in the new app.
  12. Haha I know right? and you know that thing is impractical and heavy as hell. But that dark coffee brown one looks like something you'd store a doomsday device in during a steampunk novel. badass.

    Mad Men

Really wonderful ending. My thoughts in spoilers:
  14. Got the 1.5" Tow Belt and large bifold wallet yesterday, both in chestnut. I tend to really tear up belts for some reason, rarely do they last me more than a year, I don't know if that's normal or not. Just looking at and handling the Tow Belt it is hard to imagine to this tearing up anytime soon. Super thick, feels real high quality, no shocker there. I'm thinking eventually I'll buy another one in black and then just have two belts and they will be all the belts I'll ever need. The large bifold is also great. It's pretty big. To compare to something else you keep in your pocket, think about 1.5" wider than your average smartphone, but slightly shorter. I'm a side pocket wallet guy and it fits in my pocket just fine, easy to pull out too. The slots for the credit cards are reeeeaaaal tight but I understand they will loosen up over time. Note that this wallet has a hole in the corner crease so it is not appropriate for keeping change in. I've always carried a trifold wallet but I liked the look of the bifold saddleback better than the trifold. I think I made the right choice. The chestnut looks great. I always worry chestnut will look too red, but it is brown through and through. I have to avoid red because I cannot risk being mistaken as an Alabama fan. It is important that I minimize the amount of roll tides I hear in my life. I'm gunna have to start saving my pennies because I've got to own one of those Utility Duffels. Pretty sure that's how they get you. You come for the belts and the wallets, and six months later you leave with a Leather Suitcase.
  15. I'm ready. Hoping Taylor Kitsch does well, I'd love to see him get more respect and work. Tim Riggins is one of my all time favorite characters.

    Oppo PM3

I'd dew eet Shelly they are great headphones. Can always return them if they don't work out.

    Deals

give me an old school telefunken mouse over those new fangled track balls any day.
  18. i'd love to get my 95 modded by Dan and move it to the headphone rig, but I've spent entirely too much money on gear the past couple months.
  19. bluray really does look and sound noticeably better on my TV than anything streaming, but to answer your question, no. We netflix/hulu/amazon/yahoo tv/hbo go everything we watch.

    Oppo PM3

I haven't heard the PM1 but I've read your review on it several times. Feels like you are having a similar crisis in the PM3 review, namely that its an imperfect headphone with some obvious flaws, but none of its sins are annoying, and what makes it good is just really really good. Basically I can listen to it for hours and not notice any of its sins. If I really stop and think about it, or read someone else's opinion, I'm like "oh yeah its missing x y or z", but once I'm listening again I completely forget all that. Pretty neat.
  21. Screw it I just bought the fully adjustable model with lumbar support. I've been wanting an aeron for years now, and I sit in a damn office chair for 40+ hours a week. Spend yer money where you spend yer time right?
  22. I'd get a 103D if I needed a new player right now. Nate is right, they aren't the bang for the buck they used to be, but its still a solid, reliable player with great Oppo support. Plus Oppo are the only DVD/bluray players I've owned so I'm pretty much locked in now. And darbee sounds interesting, I'd love to try that out.
  23. So maybe some of you can answer an Aeron question for me: if I do NOT get the tilt limiter with seat angle adjustment, and instead just get the standard tilt, can I still lock the chair in the fully upright position? I don't care about locking it while its reclined, but I would like to be able to lock it when its fully upright. Several months ago I was in New Orleans and went into a crazy high end store and actually got to try out both the B and C sizes, and determined that I am a B. Surprising because the C looks more appropriate for me, but I spent about 10 minutes in both and in the B I immediately sit upright, have good back support, and was comfortable.
  24. I have seen High on Fire, it was probably 5-6 years ago though, they opened for Opeth. I enjoyed it, pretty much straight ahead aggressive metal live show though, nothing super distinctive IMO, but having said that I'm not super familiar with their music. Quite the contrast with the grace and fluidity of Opeth. This was the Watershed tour.
