New Denon Cans
The D7000 looks interesting. Unless Denon engineers can get rid of the boominess on the bass and smooth out the sound a bit, I won't be getting one.

Post the last thing you bought!
I'm reserving my impression right now, but both are excellent and in the same class. The Sony SCD-777ES has about 2k in mod from R. Kern and another 3.5k from Modwright. I bought this unit from Tom Hankins and sent it in for a tube rectfied PSU upgrade.

The Live Music Thread
I went to the Eagles - Long Road Out of Eden Concert. Amazing shown. Really had a great time. An hour before the concert it was hailing pretty bad and I believe the twister touch down some where close by. Pretty messed up weather this year so far in Atlanta areas.

Sennheiser Orpheus HE90: by what was the "second batch" different?
Around $4500 I believe if not $5000. The HE90 commands about 8 to 8.5k in a used market.

Holidays!!!!!
I'm not going to do anything special really. My 3 weeks vacation is coming up in 4 weeks. Beside the expensive ticket of 1.5Ks each , we plan to have a lot of fun spending time with our family back in Thailand and do some traveling.
- I just got married!

Cambridge 840C using it as a DAC with Ipod and laptop
I read some where that toslink/optical for USB has less noise in comparison to coaxial output. I'm using the Turtlebeach AudioAdvantage Micro with my DHA3000 and HEV-90 amplifier with great results.

Cambridge 840C using it as a DAC with Ipod and laptop
Riceboy, I highly recommend you to pick up the wireworld supernova 5++ to get the most out of your optical connection. I heard a very noticeable improvement over a generic toslink cable. Hope you are liking your new source and the R10. Purk

Krell SACD Standard / Marantz SA-11S1
KG, How does the SCD-1 compared to the Krell SACD standard in both redbook and SACD. I know that the Sony is only very good in redbook, but excellent on SACD playback. How does it measure up to the Krell? Did you get MarkII or Mark III? Thanks

Krell SACD Standard / Marantz SA-11S1
Yes, it is cheaper to repair with Sony, but I don't know if they will take my Modwright Sony SCD-777ES w/ tube output stage in if I need a laser replacement. Plus having to ship external PSU to go along with it and having them throw it away might not be a good idea. I luck out of having a local master technician who can repair highend gears who live just 10 mins away. No more shipping gears to upgrade and repairs!

Krell SACD Standard / Marantz SA-11S1
That's why it make sense to stock some parts for the your units. In my case, Sony usually stop mfg. parts after 10 years. The SCD-1/777ES laser is available for $145, gear for another $130. Wonder if the Cary 306 SACD use the same KSS laser as the SCD-1 or not.

Krell SACD Standard / Marantz SA-11S1
The SCD-1's strenght is in SACD playback, the redbook is only very good at most. However, after clock, caps, and op-amps upgrade, they do sound excellent in redbook too.
