I feel the exact same way. I sold them after they were properly burn in.

Nice Elephas very nice. I really hope you get your ES-1 and Supra XLR soon. If you are happy with your Zana Deux, your Supra XLR might be worth the wait. I recently bought a Supra SE and it certainly sound better than the Zana Deux in my book. If your Supra XLR is as good as many claimed, you are in for a treat.

The modding the Denon was meant to be as a joke although I much prefer the modifications by Modwright and eXemplar and R. Kern over anything that deal with the Zap Filter. The 2900 is built significantly better than the 2910 if you want to pick the Denon. You might want to look into Pioneer universal units as well. I own the A47i and A59i and think of them pretty highly. Although both units were modded by Modwright.

Buy the Denon 2900 and send it to eXemplar to get it mods!! Have u considered buying the DVP-9000ES for a SACD playback only?

Philips/Mullard 7062 PW X 3. These really elevate the performance on my Exemplar Denon 2900. Pretty amazing sounding unit that quite a bit better than several CD players and DAC I've tried.

Pretty cheap actually. $140 shipped with free 7 HD-DVDs. Not that really a bad deal given that it still can function as a DVD player.

Fitz, Man.....those are a lot of AKG headphones. You should be a poster boy for AKG. I'm a fanboy of the followings: 1) Sony MDR-R10 2) SinglePower (Although, Mikhail has been dropping many balls lately). 3) L3000+DHA3000 combo & AT Woodies 4) Orpheus System 5) Sony SCD-1/777ES

Grawk, Sorry to hear that. Hope the cop will catch him. I had similar things happened to me back during my graduate career. The thieves smashed my rear passenger window because he wanted to steal my radio (they didn't get the radio but it costed me $350 to replace the window). Another time, someone stole my bookbag, which contained several textbooks and handwritten notes. It was very bad timing as it was 3 weeks before final exams and I had 3 tests coming up that weeks.

The Headcase pico Lovefest: Post your impressions here
purk replied to thrice's topic in Headphone Amplification
I think the Pico will be great for office or dorm solution. I would not mind having one but how the Pico measure up to a Maxed Out PPA or M3 with an Alien DAC sonically. -

Don't forget to give us an update. I really interest on how the L3000 will sound out of the Pico. Also wonder if the amp section inside the pico is comparable to a home amp like the stock and maxed out PPA. -
Earls, How does your Zapfilter Zhalou measured up to your SACDmods Sony SCD-C555ES? Which do you like better and why? Thanks

Thought you have enough cable . Nice stuff Tom.

Very entertaining read and congrats on your new source. -
Accuphase DP800/DC801 or Esoteric P-05/D05?
purk replied to Elephas's topic in Home Source Components
I think I am up to about 100 on my SACD collection. Nice find Elephas. -
What kind of upgrade options do you need? I thought your Supra XLR is pretty maxed out already and your ES-1 has a good bit of upgrade options already.
-
Getting bore Elephas? How about give us the highend headphones shoot out ?

Nice Elephas !! Nice!! Did you check out the R10 cable modified thread on Headfi? Pretty serious looking. The modification cost is $1500. Those jenalabs look kinnda odd with the R10. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f70/fun-modded-sony-r10s-274275/ http://www.jenalabs.com/headphones/sony-r-10.html

Yes, the R10 is second only to Qualia interm of speed. The missing link for the Qualia for me is slightly dried midrange and colder/brighter tonality. Yes, I they are very very clean sounding headphone. Perhaps one of the clenest next to the R10, Qualia, and K1000 (not in particular order). I was very impressed with the way the HP2 sounded with the Melos Sha Gold Reference.

The only thing that prevent the price of the Qualia to go any higher is their fit. Not everyone is as lucky as the Elephas and Icarium. Plus the SP headband isn't cheap and the SP headband changes the look of the Qualia. IMO, I prefer the look of the stock Qualia. When I finally found a perfect position on Mulveling's Qualia, the sounds was incredible and almost as special as my R10. Of course, I can see why Icarium prefers the Qualia over the R10s.
