Mayberry on Acid -- Meet Impressions
Too much amazing gear to begin to talk about. One post for now: seriously amazing K1000 homebrew amp (built last week). This amp uses large Russian GM70 transmitting triodes as output tubes. GM70s are driven by 6BX7 television vertical amplifier tubes from the early 1960s The two tubes are coupled by interstage transformers. It uses dual high-voltage power supplies, using mercury-vapor rectifiers run into LCLCLC filters. The GM70 filaments are powered by a standard industrial "brute force" power supply. Per the builder, Frank Cooter, the circuit is straight out of 1937. All I can say is it sounds damn good with the K1000s, beautifully natural with a smooth high end (loosing that sometimes digital feel the K1000s treble gives), and beefy, but clean bottom end. The builder and his amp: I haven't yet had time with the famed emm labs/zanden combo, but the Cooter amp (it has no name) pretty much blew me away.

I'm going for the librarian look. Here's one from my camera: We may be delayed, but per jp nums, Thrice is "lost" in Vegas.

Beware! IC eating cats on the loose!
I've been lucky I guess. Even my new cat knows not to mess with my stuff, though my last cat ruined a few unattended tubes I had lying about, but that was my fault for leaving rolling object on a table.

Three Weeks 'Till iPhone
I have a Pocket PC, but the screen is almost impossible to view in the sunlight, which makes calling, or anything else, difficult at best. I have also never figured out how to view missed calls, and since I refuse to empty my voicemail, I never know who has been trying to call me when I can't find my phone in my purse. Yes, and by typing that, I do realize the idiocy of my statement.

Sadly, "it will be shipped today" also has many interpretations that do not involve standard definitions of those words.- slow forum
I feel damaged after seeing only the first half minute. We don't need to send troops to destroy enemy countries. Just send Aaron Carter.- Help purchasing headphones for my mother (closed, K1000?)
Or get them reterminated with a 4-pin and use them with a K1000 tail or an adapter to single-ended for more options.- APureSound KSC-75s. Anybody have impressions?
Nope. Not dumb at all if you heard them with the right $3000 amp, and if the source is up to the job.- Kittery, ME Mini-Meet Impressions
Looks like a nice meet, and certainly nice place for a meet.- Imaginary Head-Caser of the Year 2007
tkam, do you want a tiara?- Apogee Duet Kicks Ass
Well, if this peanut likes it, this could be my next purchase after I sell off a good chuck of my stash.- Post the last thing you bought!
Ken, if you get a pair of those purple boots, no one will doubt your craziness. Mike, we're getting you that Teres!- Post the last thing you bought!
Yep, who needs muscle. We've got crazy people!- Nice Epay auction
I had two, gave one to Thrice. I think I paid just under $100 for one, around $160 (iirc) for the other in mint condition. I figured that I overpaid for the second one, but I liked it so didn't care. It's a pretty nice pcdp, but it needs a stable surface and isn't, therefore, really portable. It's good in a nice bedroom/office rig.- New member ... saying hi.
Welcome, Mortalcoil!- Post the last thing you bought!
Oh, I also went a little crazy at the eye doctor today bought four pairs of glasses because I couldn't decide on one. Knowing me, I'll probably wear none, but I'm liking the funky reading glasses I picked out. They've got the whole librarian thing going on. I'm gonna get me one of those beaded necklace-type things to hold them so I won't lose them like my last ten pairs. Sounds like a plan. Isn't Al renting a van? I can see it now. You, me, Matt, Gene, Stephen, Aaron, Al, Wayne and Ken arrive at the guys front door. Three lawyers alone should scare him into handing it over. The others will threaten to mess with his computers and amps. I'll drive.- Post the last thing you bought!
I got crazy busy the past week with work and family, and had no time to play online. Last purchase: shoes that actually have toes and a closed heel (little prisons for feet) for the MOA trip next week. Tomorrow, I'm out looking for a coat. Mike, I say we take a roadtrip to this guy's house when we're out there and grab you a Teres. You should not be wanting.- Post the last thing you bought!
Ouch. That's a beautiful turntable. Doesn't John live near the guy?- Please diagnose my problems given no information
Welcome to head-case. Uh...doubt anyone can tell you why with that little info. You either damaged them or they were faulty or both. Contact Phillips and see about a repair or replacement. - Last Minute Check Before I Buy A Pico.
