  1. shouldn't be that hard, but you probably are going to need at least two people. here are some quite nice tips. went onto home depot's website. most of them is measured >50dB. The problem with electric chiller is that the cooling capacity is directly related to the size/efficiency of the compressor... so the more cooling you want the louder it's going to get...
  2. I'm only interested in how they stuffed everything in there. now, how can I crack one open without paying for it.
  3. http://v-moda.com/vamp/ anyone wants to spend $650? getting a bit ridiculous? EDIT: It's somewhat discussed in the ipod/iphone thread, which I didn't see until now. so, has anyone tried it?
  4. Thank you sir. That'd be greatly appreciated. I'll also look into the 6A ones.
  5. anyone knows where to get 512-KBU4M (Fairchild Bridge Rectifier)? it's non-stocked on both mouser and digikey and will only be shipped at >200. I was going to use the Vishay alternative 625-KBU4M-E4, and it was in-stock when I checked few days ago, but now it's 7 weeks backordered.

  7. apparently old news. they just released the AS-2 couple of weeks ago. "15mm Dynamic Driver, Next Generation Dual Tweeters, Adjustable Bass Porting, Hyper-Coating Comfort Tips, Recessed Connectors, Legendary Hybrid Performance." the G in ASG-1 stands for generic. They are probably not very far from presenting the ASG-2. Very interesting claims... "Next Generation" "Hyper-Coating" "Legendary"
  8. stood in Qualcomm Building P machine room for 3 hours introducing our chiller. The noise level in some parts of the room is just unbearable. While at it, we met an engineer from University of Louisiana, Lafayette. Apparently, our company was going to donate a chiller to them for a fuel cell Combined Cooling Heating and Power project 10 years ago, but the whole project fell apart during planning when their expert on absorption chiller died from a heart attack. He was looking to renew the project, but we most likely can't donate any more even if we want to.
  9. Hey, people might need this cable to perform time-warp, and "anti-virus protection" is a neccesity, because they obviously don't want to end up in the wrong time due to virus infections. Hell, burn-in cable will provide higher precision, and because this is such a specialized cable, the normal cable cookers are not up for the task. It's time for someone to come up with a specialized cable cooker just for these anti-virus cables!
  10. Maybe you can share the knowledge with your neighbors as long as they don't take it seriously too. It's always good to raise the awarness of the wonderful technologies we have.
  11. nah, I was serious on the "don't take it seriously" part. We usually don't sell stuff that small in US, because the freight cost would exceed the unit cost, and the unit cost is way above the electric counterparts'.
  12. maybe you can try one of our company's smallest model. (don't take it seriously)
  13. at the ASME Conference in San Diego for the whole day... from 8AM to 5:30PM. I realized that the whole conference was and is going to be a waste of time and money to my company. It's filled with researchers who focus on clean energy, but no one is interested in buying commercial Direct Fire Absorption Chillers. I also realized that I have more knowledge on DFA Chillers than I ever wanted; in fact, I never knew how a air conditioner worked before I took this job. Ay, the only good thing about today is a free screwdriver that I got from another exhibitor.
  14. Woke up to the dreaded beeping noise of my external HDD. It can still be recognized, but probably not for long. spent two hours looking for replacement and became very disappointed. It seems like there is NO reliable HDDs these days. settled on the WD 3T My Book Essential. went down stairs, got on the ESP950 that arrived yestereday, and forgot about the crappy HDD shit.
  15. Tran just PMed me. The boards are on their way. I guess I should train myself to be more patient.
  16. Does anyone know if Lil Knight were active last week? I was buying a set of KGSSHV boards and the communication was great. My payment went through on July 5th, and I have not heard back from Tran since that. I know that Tran is no scammer whatsoever and I have no problem waiting, but It's quite frustrating to be left in the dark.
  17. no difference. It's just the first thing that came to mind.
  18. W1000X that I got for $370 and second hand Audinst HUD-MX1 for the rest $130 (or the best DAC/AMP I can find for $130)
  19. Wireless? And I thought Micro-B can't be used for line-out.
  20. TimeZone dot com's Sales Corner might worth a try. I poke around these watch forums from time to time, but usually not the sales corners. Nice watch by the way. The vintage look is very classy.
  21. I'm probably going to use some in the future. Sign me up for 3 Pros please. California, USA. Thanks. Paid.
  22. hmm I've read the welcome page several times.... and been lurking around here for quite a while now... so I have a general idea of the way conversation goes around here. I'm not afraid to be bashed, but I'm just trying to start from somewhere... that last sentence was just written in courtesy (meaning don't want to be seens as demanding for the first post)
  23. I'm very interested in the project and I've been looking through the thread which kind of scares and intrigues me at the same time... I have a few questions to begin with. First up, I know that there are the off-board and on-board heatsink version. Is there any board-run for the on-board heatsink version happening right now? Or maybe someone has stocked a pile... Second up, there seems to be many versions of BOM floating around here..... will the BOM in Lil Knight's signature suffice? I've only built CKKIII and Gamma 2 before, so I don't have any experience with HV stuff, but I'm very cautious. I'm planning to build this mainly for the experience. It probably will take me upwards to half a year to complete, since I don't want to rush it nor do I have the time to rush it as a student. My EE friend is probably going to assist me when I run into trouble. Replies are appreciated, please no flaming.
