I´m glad skullguise I wouldn't like to offend anyone with what I'm going to say. I don´t doubt that it sound good and their price is quite "affordable" but... For less than that, we would be quite rude to other (included Stax). I´ll think about it for a few days. Maybe they have stock of the premium version again.

Ummm….. I expected a little more attention to detail. I was about to finish the purchase when I saw your photos. I think I'll wait a little to see if unfortunately your problem has been a coincidence.
  3. An interesting place. I have read that this place is used as a setting for movies
  4. I have used steel screws with this insulating washer Ref. Mouser Edit: I add a drop of Nural 50 to the screws too About r182 replaced with 120 ohm to get 20mA output current
  5. I have the MrSpeakers Ether CX (Closed). Sounds pretty good, detailed, they are light and isolate quite a bit from ambient noise but I think they are very overrated. I prefer the Audeze LCD-XC although they are terribly heavier (and expensive)
  6. Happy Birthday !!
  7. Nice phono preamp ?
  8. Where I live there are quite a few owls ... bad place for small animals and even cats.
  9. Something funny
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. The album is simply spectacular. I really liked "September Second"
  12. Added "Hemispheres" to my playlist. Thanks Mikey
  13. Am I the only one who uses 450Vdc output?
  14. I have been focusing on gain tubes. I've been alternating the E80CC, E180CC, 6189 ... and I think the E180CC (Mullard/Philips) is the one with the best balance (quality vs. gain level). I liked the E80CC a lot but the gain increase was minimal compared to 12AU7. For the driver's tubes, I've been using ECC803S and several "esoteric" 12AX7 for a while, but I opted for the modest ECC83 Svetlana "Winged C" and a pair of Mullard CV4004 with unknown mileage too. IMO the most critical here are the gain tubes so I have not wasted much time here. As for the "Jiml/Gilmore" modification to raise the current to the plate of the driver tube, I think it was a good upgrade (thanks to both of you and Mwl for sharing it). If I'm not wrong, only Michael and I did the mod?
  15. Has anyone continued to investigate something about preamp tubes? I still use the E180CC instead of the 12AU7.
  16. Happy Birthday!!!
  17. I forgot to comment that the German-Maestro also have identical Beyer housings and I would swear they also use the same drivers. I have several German_Maestro at home and they are very similar to their Beyer counterparts. German-Maestro webside
  18. I think that Michael and I talked about that project at that time and decided to put our attention to the T2 mini. I don't remember how the two Sandwich prototypes ended. Maybe Congo or Matt can tell us something.
  19. Umm.. here ? Ah no, sorry I´m mistake. it´s a Superlux.
  20. In pharma-industry here in Europe are usually 10 to 11 years. In the US they are somewhat longer I think 20 in some cases. Far from this, the DT770 has been in production for more than 20 years so it would not surprise me if its design patent is expired or that Behringer and Beyer share shareholding. Something that catches my attention is that the new model is called "DT330/DT660" which would lead to suppose that it is a model "inferior" to the DT770.
