  1. That would be cool. Just flashed my meter and I want to try and see how well the screen capture function works.
  2. anyone here have a copy of FlukeView Forms >3.0?
  3. It seems that there are a wider array of SMD polymer caps, perhaps it would be worthwhile to look into these? What's the pad in the lower right corner for?
  4. Nice! Usualy there is an Elenco option that has both the board and jumpers, but what you got is great. One other thing that might be useful are the grabber probe thingies: Mini Hook Clips - RadioShack.com (these are pretty bad quality, but I'm sure you can find something like them at Fry's)
  5. Perhaps someone else would be more qualified than me on this, but the way I understand it X7R are fine for bypassing, C0G are more appropriate in say compensation or filtering circuits. The latter are "better" though. The difference is the dielectric. X7R have a higher dielectric constant, which results in more capacitance per volume. Thus, X7R are used where the "better" C0G capacitors cannot fit. Also, search for NP0, perhaps that will yield more results.
  6. excellent work! Also, looks like the wall wart on the far right will fit just fine!
  7. hm, tiny little rubber rings........................ maybe his wife knows?
  8. How did this get moved? put the loading networks inside a good ole RCA plug (i.e. RCA jacks instead of bananas).
  9. Ari, how did you choose the capacitor values on the secondaries, was it specified in the datasheet? Also, when doing the external loading like you're doing, some people might have problems with RF pickup. I had an issue with this in my previous house. The only cure was some capacitance on the input.
  10. hey doug: I remember you having a website that you recommend that has a number of test tones that can be burned to a CD.. i've created a few of my own, but would like to see what they offer and what other tones I might add to my CD. Thanks!
  11. I agree with grenert and I definitely wouldn't discount using a C0G bypass. This is even recommended by various chip manufacturers on datasheets.
  12. in utero or ex utero?
  13. hm...
  14. that's not a DIY project oooh, thooose people. Cannot wait for impressions. I think I may have to see if I'm highest on the totel pole to be able to request a pair of the universal 5's for demo.
  15. 8 Sanyo Eneloop AAA batteries Fluke USB-IR cable
  16. any LCD-2 versus LCD-1 impressions by the HE5 > LCD-2 folk?
  17. You must try it in context to get the joke then I guess. Basically, it's an "easy" way to play the 7th "astronomically high" note
  18. I've known a few violinists that think that both sides of the bridge should be in tune with each other (it's kind of hard to explain, but this has to be done via bridge placement and then the sound post location sort of follows too), so this sort of joke kind of works. I'm not sure if this is urban legend or not, but I wouldn't want to go into a luthier and request this sort of setup.. I prefer much the more scientific methods, like rapping on the back with your knuckles and what not
  19. I figured as nuch. I remember a good clarinetist also claiming some sort of magic reed tricks for playing the Gershwin opening glissando, as it was something much easier for someone used to playing jazz, and whatever setup might go along with playing jazz. I don't know much about it, but this sort of stuff is rather fascinating to me. The high school joke for violinists was to play the high E on the opening of Lalo Symphonic Espagnole on the other side of the bridge. For some reason, I still find that funny.
  20. I guess so. So, how hard is it to hit the C# in "Flighting"?
  21. how many counts / digits was your older meter compared to the V99?
  22. Having played both, I'd never make such a broad claim, that was pretty much what I was getting at...
  23. no, I'd like to open it up to everything. I haven't heard the above for example, so this thread is already serving it's purpose well. Good point about the composer's "native" instrument though...
