  1. so, the little material on this panel to accept threads has become somewhat of a fail, like most of my casing endeavors. So, I was thinking... why not just bond the standoffs permanently to the face plate (there are still threads, so alignment isn't a huge issue)? So, hence my question... Anything particular, such as Lock-Tite/JB Weld/etc. that would work well in this case (blind holes, Aluminum to aluminum, yes lame pun intended)
  2. how do you think a single omni would do for a mono rig?
  3. yup, RAAL units are very close: RAAL 140-15D
  4. here's the final impedance of the 2-way I'm using the Raidho unit in
  5. I'd recommend getting them to him in a hurry! (so we can hear them at the upcoming DFW meet)
  6. well, remember those measurements are on an open baffle..
  7. very good question I'd be worried about the bass response. Also, I researched these RAAL ribbons quite a bit, and heard a couple projects with them. They are very nice sounding, but personally I preferred the Raidho units. I think the RAAL ribbons are really meant to be driven by tube gear (see their marketing stuff, they were almost designed this way) and that wasn't a limitation I was willing to accept at this price range...
  8. you can definitely order them separately. Here's one link: RAAL 140-15D Ribbon Tweeter (with optional Amorphous Core) from Madisound and http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=178&products_id=8323
  9. They look to me like the standard RAAL ribbon offerings, so yes they're available... I could be wrong though ...
  10. wow, finally a new headphone to get excited about
  11. perhaps there is a size limit?
  12. mighty respectable of you. we're on the same page then
  13. wait, none of those are options on the order page?!
  14. I'm not sure how this would be given the schematic and the M-M-M-MASSIVE upgrade from Wima to Auricaps ... but hey, whatever floats your boat / empties your wallet.
  15. I had a GES for a while at my house and totally agree about the lack of slam. I'm just not sure you're going to get it out of that amp. I think Naaman's HeAudio cans were a better match for this amp, and probably a more euphonic but synergistic combo. I enjoy the KGSS with the mkI but realize why people prefer the BH, and honestly is wasn't until I heard this combo that I had anything to gripe about the KGSS.
  16. I drove a pair of MMGs and 12's with a early 90's Marantz stereo power amplifier that sure as hell wasn't 2 ohm stable (I learned this later when using this amp to learn how to do load testing). It was actually a sweet setup, and I realized at some point that I still had that amp laying and tried using it to power a Stax transformer and it worked beautifully.
  17. slant rhyme and "private meets".. excellent thread!
  18. Well, now I know what PPP and PSE means
  19. I wish I could find the post here... anyways, I was shocked to see the cases myself. To ward of the inevitable question of cost, I don't remember, but contact the seller on that page. The Woo cases are pretty much top notch in my book, very well built.
  20. hum.. ok.. BTW, interesting looking amp here: [url=http://6moons.com/audioreviews/westernreserve/westernreserve.html]6moons audioreviews: Western Reserve Audio Design WRAD
  21. I feel that I should report these posts as spam.. I mean, look at this guys past posts...
  22. I'm not sure who questioned this, but look at this for sale ad: diyAudio Forums - Tube amp case - Page 1 Also, I saw the same chassis for sale in China, but didn't take any pics ...
  23. do you have the Amphenol part number?
  24. does anyone happen to know where one can get an official drawing of the Stax plug and socket? Or, if the Amphenol stuff is indeed an exact fit, is there a technical drawing of these part numbers?
  25. yeah, but it's the covert styrofoam cups that masquerade as cable elevators that are the tough ones to spot.
