well, depends on the transformer, but you should observe phasing dots if the transformer manufacturer denotes this. The "dot" corresponds to neutral.

I'm pretty sure soniccraft stocks it. I just bought a bunch of 4 conductor, shielded cable from them, and I think it's blue even.. I'd have to check.

Hey! So, I'm looking for a portable player of sorts to placate the babies on the way to China. Requirements are long battery life, or the ability to take AA or another battery pack, and pretty much kid proof. Doesn't have to play DVDs directly, if the ripping process is pretty smooth. I prefer the tablet style. Seems like there aren't many options out there... so, I figured I'd ask around.

yup, this is exactly what I'm going to try tonite, as well as not paralleling the secondaries. I'll try these two things with and without a 100k resistor or so to provide some sort of load. I almost didn't fuse the primary side, as I have a fuse on the power supply board... glad I decided to do this, and a reminder that this is always a good idea!

I'm not sure if they are ensuring 20% headroom, or if they run conservatively. That's a good question. As for 60VAC, yeah that will work. Just tuck the center tap and other taps out of the way somewhere. As long as you don't need to parallel the two windings, you should be fine. I'm actually having problems with an R-Core right now due to paralleling the secondaries is causing the transformer to blow 3A fuses with nothing on the secondaries. I'm not sure if it's a defect or what.. I hope to get to the bottom of this tonite and will keep you posted.

dunno about profit, but you can get exactly what features you need and you can pick and choose where to spend your money... whether on a display, or simple knob, or autoformer-based control versus resistive and balanced versus unbalanced, multiple input boards, etc... of course you can cut cost on the enclosure, for example.

what about getting a builder to assemble some of the Bent Audio TAP components for you? Might be able to save a bit of cash this way...

I'm not sure if you have this album, but "Waltz for Debbie" demonstrates this quite well. There are spatial clues out the wazoo in that recording that sound oh so perfect with the SR-007. With the He I felt like more of an outsider than right in the middle (literally) of the performance.
