Pass Pearl PCBs and related parts
I'd recommend something shielded for the input and something kinda beefy for the power. I haven't really thought this far ahead though

Preamps w/ remote
yeah, especially when Posty made the mistake of not agreeing to an upfront price... I'll just take my time and offer him some more mods to placate him, that's the plan at least... maybe offer to make another Bugle to someone else and then sell Postys off to the new person... you know the drill.

Post the last thing you bought!

I'd pit the Pearl against the Seduction any day and expect the Pearl to win hands down. Since I have Jack's other phono stage in for mods, he may be reluctant to lone the Seduction out As for parts and what not for the Pearl, I can get you PCBs but you have to pay for shipping from Germany. The lowest kit in the group buy was $337.04, but that of course took advantage of a lot of consolidated shipping and what not.

Preamps w/ remote
well, I'm about to own my first SS preamp, but this choice was out of necessity, as a SS preamp that fits the bill for my setup simply doesn't exist (commercially) and my Blowtorch wannabe clone won't do the trick either, without some serious playing around (don't think I won't try, but ... ) All this to say that I really like tube preamps with solid state amplification. I ran a BAT/Ayre setup for a long time and it's a magical combination, no doubt. Also had a ARC and Krell SS amps as well and both really liked tubed preamps. Then there is the VTL preamps which are amazing as well. My response was somewhat kidding, somewhat knee jerk response

Powerful headamp for orthos?
that's the beauty of bartering, you just need time and talents

Powerful headamp for orthos?
so, you have a set that needs a cable? Hmmm.. have you listened to them, or just a wild guess?

Balancing my K501
except it won't work with my balanced 4-pin Lemo jack

Powerful headamp for orthos?
Smeggy: Maybe we can barter some skill sets Do you have a price range in mind?

Powerful headamp for orthos?
yeah, Steve has a set. I'd need the lower impedance versions. I'm consider ransoming his new phono preamp for them.

Powerful headamp for orthos?
I'm looking for some Orthos to experiment with. Basic config will be a "preamp" capable of putting out balanced ~30v per leg, then run into a balanced TVC then to the cans. I have a feeling this will really show what Orthos can do. Just need to find some phones

The "#$!* I forgot to Order It" Thread
anyone happen to have some extra IRF510 and IRF9510? I need 2 of each, unmatched is fine.. they're just CCSs...

Powerful headamp for orthos?
just a guess, but perhaps orthos will prefer a transformer coupled amplifier?

Berendsen IPA 80 Intergrated & HP Amp
I'm using those same PCB high density RCA jacks on my preamp. Do you like them? Other than that, your pictures don't really capture much of the circuit. What are all those transistors on the long heat sink.

ZYX Bloom, best bargain MC under $5,000?
extremely tweaky. my main pain point with it is that it sounds totally freaking awesome the first time you listen to it... I mean, incredible. Then you realize that you can tweak it more (especially VTA, but I can hear differences in .05g VTF for example) and you start to dial it in for a particular record (recording idiosyncrasies, record thickness, your current sonic preferences of the day, etc.) and it sounds even better... then you start doing this for every record... I mean, it doesn't sound bad with an average setup, but once you hear the detail this thing offers when setup just right, it's quite amazing... then there are the other models... at this point, I'd love to finish up some projects and just tweak and listen... soon it will happen, and it will be a wonderful day!

any details on the transformers? who winds them, and what else do they wind

Pass Pearl PCBs and related parts
yeah, I'll have to think about it... I'm assuming you may need to decrease the source resistors for the second pair of transistors? I'll think some more when I get back into town... man, Seattle is a fun place

Another Stax Omega 2 setup
Those are 2 excellent choices. Though, I'm curious what the difference in price would be between a Spacedeck with Tri-planar arm. I really don't like the Nottingham arms. My next upgrade (well, "commercially available upgrade") will be a new arm for my Space Deck. That being said, I like the Galibier tables as well...... tough one. It would be easier if you would have chosen crappy tables and the Nottingham.. then I just would have been a Nottingham fan-boy... but, you really raised the ante there.

I Don't Like Ike !
