  1. I can respect that. But I still dont regret spending a significant amount of money (compared to what I earned at the time) on aftermarket speakers and a subwoofer/amp for my car during college. Some of my best memories from those years are going up and down I 95 with the car I had at the time, listening to music. Had I had spent that money on a home setup, I'd have some pretty nice stuff, but I got a lot of mileage out of that system. And now its been transported over to my newest car, which I commute to work with.
  2. Many dozen hours spent with an ipod + HD650s and amp between classes at a commuting college say otherwise.
  3. Thats the part you were meant to see. It was like 500 stickies about the outage.
  4. I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you.
  5. never even occurred to me
  6. whoa. nevermind
  7. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Pure-Gold-Henry-Mancini/dp/B000002W4X/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1224783684&sr=8-11]Pure Gold from Henry Mancini.[/ame] The prices have gone back down to sane levels now, as more people have posted it used. There is still one new for $88
  8. reminds me of a CD recommended on the Steve Hoffman forums. Before he blogged about it, used copies could be had for about 2 bucks at Amazon. The next day, there was one copy left at $98 dollars. The. Next. Fucking. Day.
  9. I may just use the transit for a while. Its no worse than the ipod I've been using. I want to try the Cambridge dacmagic thing, but its got no headphone jack \
  10. M Audio transit for my laptop. 2nd time owning one of these Contemplating getting a da10 for the office, or just sticking with the transit. I want something that has a dac and headphone amp in one, to feed my ESW10JPNs. An all-in-one. I probably shouldn't have sold my last pico I figure a transit + toslink to optical adapter feeding the da10 would be good enough.
  11. We used to lock each other in the freezer at Jerrys, which goes to -40. Good times.
  12. Here is a nifty 2 drive dock. You could put 2 1.5TB drives in it, set to spanning, and have a nice 3TB music collection at your desk, easy peasy. $35.
  13. I was going to complain about being overworked this afternoon, but I guess that would be out of place right now. awwwwk warrrrrrd
  14. I haven't read the entire thread, but I've had the volume on my Dac3 maxed, and fed to either a t-amp or my headphone amp and couldn't hear any hiss with HD650s. I've only powered my e530s once or twice from it, but heard no noise either. I usually have the volume on the headphone amp or t amp louder than I would normally listen and use the bel canto knob to adjust overall volume, out of laziness. Its usually in the 85-95% range. There is a bit of hiss from the t amp by itself, that I can hear when everything else is turned off.
